A family friend is getting marrie don the 21st and we got her a little gift off her registry but our other gift is a basket of things that kinda relate to a new marriage. I added things like glue to help bond the marriage, a light(a candle) to help them find there way, a bag of change to help when things get tight, towels for when things get messy, a hammer and nails to help builod there relationship a wrench to keep there heads screwed on, cadbury dream chocolate so they can follow there dream, things like that but my basket still looks empty does any one else have any ideas? things that kinda say things but also that they can still use. I am trying to get it put together very soon.

Thank you in advance

Hi M.! I've always bought a nice picture frame as a wedding gift. It's something they will use. Who doesn't take pictures at a wedding? Hope this is a good idea for you.

What a wonderfully thoughtful gift! You have very lucky friends!
I like the idea of games, my husband & I enjoyed that early in our relationship when we still had lots of time alone together. What about a book of inspirational poems or short love stories? We used to read to each other when we were dating and loved it. Or even a dvd romance movie. Basically, with the divorce rates so high now any type of positive reinforcement for marriage can be very inspiring!

What a great idea!! Thanks for sharing - this will be perfect for my friend's upcoming wedding. Here are a few other ideas:

a list of date places in their area (so they don't forget to keep dating each other)
CD of love songs (to take an occasional break)
blanket (for picnics and snuggling together)

Hi M.:

How about some of these ideas:

chapsticks (so they always kiss goodnight)
fancy notepad (to write each other love notes)
bud vase (to buy each other a flower on occasion)
an egg timer (to take a few breaths before saying anything mean)
etc.

What a great idea, they should appreciate your sentiment and thoughfulness.

Hi M., I hope you are putting a note in there that explains those things! Otherwise, they will get a basket full of things and wonder what it meant! I think that is a really cute idea. I'm engaged and although I'm saying "no gifts", I would always appreciate cash...especially during these tough times. Have fun!

Adding to the last person's response regarding cash, I agree completely (if it's within your budget). To keep it going with your clever theme (how SMART of you to do this basket!), you could put the cash in a plastic egg and tell them it's the start of their "nest egg."

wow...great idea!
some things to add...
I do something similar & always make make an "unwind" basket for weddings w/ items from my home based business but you can find the items from elsewhere if you want also..its to remind them to relax & enjoy life..
~unwind massage oil, candle, unwind aromatherapy spray, unwind lotion, unwind bath salts..
& I top it off w/ a bottle of merlot from Trader Joes! $2.99 a bottle..charles shaw wine
The "Unwind" products state right on the packaging, "Chamomile for calmness, ylang ylang for relaxation"..so it might go right along w/ your themes!

You can check out the site if the "unwind" theme is of interest to you. Feel free to message me w/ questions & to get them way cheaper.

Hi M.,

I personally love these types of gifts - they are both thoughtful and useful! How about adding a game or two in there - a couple that plays together, stays together? My husband and I have fond memories of playing Uno together most every night for probably our first year of marriage (it's been 10 now!). Have fun at the wedding!
