So now that i'm getting closer to my due date i was told that i should start finding a pediatrician for my baby. I have no clue were to start, again i have mentioned i moved from the city to aurora. I would really like some recommendations from you already moms. I would really like it to be around the Provena Mercy hospital area, or at least not too far from that ( dont want to drive 30 minutes to get somewhere). Another question we dont know what we are having , but if we have a girl do you rec a women ped and if we had a boy would u rec a man ped? This is our first so i'm clueless, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So if u can again rec your pediatricians and facilities that would be g reat.

What can I do next?

The Peds at Dreyer are great. My daughter goes to Natalie Drummund. She was reccommended to me by several people and I find her to be fantastic. She goes beyond just being a doctor and answers all my questions and gives great advice. She realy listens to you as a mother and your concerns. I was a first time mom also who read alot before getting pregnant. So when I brought my info, fears, and concerns to her she was always up on the latest current events and gave her doctor answer and her mom answer. She is a mom too and I think that is very important in decision making. She is in Aurora off of Galena at the clinic. The hours are convenient and there are night hours. I have been to most of her associates also and Dr. Schnell gets raves from alot of people also. You can go and interview them now before your new bundle arrives and the doctor you choose will visit your baby in the hospital before you check out. Which I thought was great. If you are planning to deliver a Mercy, I think you will love it. I was totally impressed with the hospital and its services. If you have any questions send me a note I would be happy to help you in your search.

We use Dr Paul Granoff at Associated Pediatrics. Their Moosheart location is just a couple of minutes from Mercy. I am a first time mom also and the nurses at the office were great! They never made me feel like I was asking a stupid question and I called often. The address and phone are:
37W002 Mooseheart Rd
Mooseheart, IL 60539

I don't think it matters whether you use a female or male doctor. You just need someone you trust.

I really like ABC Pediatrics on Rickert dr in Naperville. We have see both Dr Shaw and Patel and both were wonderful with our little girl. They are both women an dDr Shaw has a 9 month old boy, her first, so I felt she would be sympathetic to my concerns. Don't know haw far that is for you to drive but they are worth it. Also a good book that has been invaluable to us is he baby 411. Tells you everything even how to pick a pediatricion

I HIGHLY recommend ABC Pediatrics in Naperville. Dr. Shanks is the best. Everyone in the group has an excellent bedside manner and will take however long you need to answer questions etc.. They are fabulous with the children. If you need to get in that same day due to an illness they will fit you in. Stay clear of Dupage Medical group Ped's there bedside manner is horrible. They once made me hold down my son while they gave him 5 shots. Where at ABC they bring in the doctor and the nurse to each give a shot at the same time which is easier on the baby. ABC Ped's number is ###-###-#### you will love them.
good luck and congratulations having a baby is the coolest thing. Remember sometimes it is worth driving a little bit farther to get the perfect doctor.

I'm surprised that previous poster had such a bad experience with dupage med group. That's who we use, and we've been happy with them so far. Although we pretty much exclusively use Dr. Abassian unless there's an emergency and she's unavailable. She's great, I highly recommend her.
