Need Recommendation for a Realtor
Hello, so we are looking for a realtor to help us with a few things. Firstly we are in need of a rental home. We have a special needs child and would like to rent in a neighborhood where we would like to begin building a new home. This would mean we would need a rental for about 6 months. We have been told that N. Allegheny, Pine-Richland, Seneca Valley and Shaler school districts would be our best bet. We believe we have found the builder we like (Heartland homes) and would need help selecting a subdivision and lot to begin the process of building a home. As the list goes on we wouold need a rental with a fence as we have pets that further complicate things. We believe we will have the monies to begin the process of building in February, and may need to rent as early as March or the children and I may remain in KS, depending on if a rental home is ever found. I know this is an awful lot of criteria, a tall list to tackle....but any help would be appreciated.

No realtor recs but wanted to chime in on schools. As another response mentioned...Pine Richland and North Allegheny are much better than Shaler and Seneca if quality of education are important. I can't speak to how they are for special needs families though. I also recommend Hampton. It is an awesome school (#3 in the State!) and it is small and will stay small. The rest of the schools are huge. North Allegheny is awesome for education but is gigantic and Pine Richland (where I live) is supposed to grow by 53% by the time my first grader is in high school.
Heartland Homes are very nice...good choice there.
Good luck to you.

Hi B.,
My name is L. and I am an interior decorator and I work with an interior designer who is an expert in accomodations for the elderly and for people with disabilities. As you are building your new house, that would be the ideal time to install items that will make your life, and the life of your child, easier. My friend and I will be able to work with your builder to give you the home you need with wider hallways and doors, a walk-in bathtub, and many other things that you might need as part of the building process. Then I, as the decorator, can help with the selection of fixtures, colors, and etc. to make it the home of your dreams. If you are interested, we can meet and talk about the options.
As far as realtors, I have a few names I can pass on to you as well. I will be happy to give them a call for you and see if they can help you out with your rental search while you are building your house.
Please contact me offline and we can talk more. My email address is ____@____.com the Best,
L.

Hi, I just wanted to add (as the mother of a boy on the Spectrum) that you want to stay in Allegheny County for the services that are available and covered here, as opposed to in neighboring counties. I've heard that Quaker Valley is a good school district, too, for special needs. In the South Hills, I know people who've moved to Bethel Park for special needs when two school districts right next door, Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair, may stand out on the national scale in academics but still aren't doing as well for "our kids." Good luck with everything!

Hey B.,
I live in Wilmington, Delaware. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pa. I just want to give you some friendly advice. I grew up in the North Hills area. I have alittle brother who is 14 who attends North Hills High School. Its a great school and area to grow up in. I graduated from North Hills in 1998. Since then i've heard North Allegheny, and Seneca are real bad with drugs. There are children over dosing. Pine-Richland i haven't heard anything bad about them or Shaler. Good Luck in what you do but i highly recommned the North Hills School District. For elementary i attented WestView elem, which is part of the North Hills School District. I hope to oneday move back to Pittsburgh so my 2 year old can attend North Hills and enjoy it like I did. If u need anymore advice or help just let me know. i can answer any questions u may have. GOOD LUCK!!
