Anyone have successes or failures for kid parties that you want to share? I'm planning on a bowling party for my son, unless I get a better idea that is also affordable. Help!

What can I do next?

It sounds funny but my nephew had a really fun party at Home Depot in Portland! The kids do a fun project and it's affordable.

Check out www.pepperspollywogs.com/c/. It is a searchable party database. Go on there, put in your zip code, and voila, all party venues for your area will pop up! :) Very tool cool for planning! And good luck!

So I don't remember the name of the place but it was near the zoo-may have been part of the zoo? My nephew had a birthday party outdoors in a pavilion area and then had a guided nature hike where the kids had to find things hidden along the trail. It was very cool and I doubt expensive as my sister is on a tight budget. If I remember right, after the hike they had a craft time too. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Check out the Portland's Chilldren's Musuem in southwest. We had our son's fifth birthday party there and it was a major hit! Educational and fun for all. For details check out http://www.portlandcm.org/

There's a great place out in Hillsboro, off Cornelius Pass Rd. called Out of This World Pizza and Play. They have an amazing indoor play area (huge!) and good pizza. Usually playtime for 5-year olds is $7 each, but you may get a deal if you're having a party there. It's a bit out of the way, but worth it!

Google it and you'll see why.

I don't know how much a bowling party is, but I just heard about a great place for a birthday party for kids. The kids get to do fun messy art projects in a place where someone else cleans up the mess.
It's called CHAP (Children's Healing Art Project). It's in the Pearl District and I understand that it is around $200 for 20 kids to have a party. Half of the proceeds from the party go toward art parties for children at Doernbecher and the Shriner's Children's Hospital. The website is www.chap.name . It's worth checking out.
Good luck.

I have friends in Portland that threw their daughter's a party at Pump-it-Up Junior. It was a lot of fun and it flowed well. The kids had a great time. You might check that out.
