I am searching for a UNIQUE birthday party idea for our son...he will be 3 y/o and his birthday is in March - so outdoor events would not work. We have been to so many great birthday parties over the past year - just looking for something original?!?

What can I do next?

We did my sons 4yr party with http://www.ooglesngoogles.com/ and it was fantastic. They can come to you but they also have their own facility. I also just came across partytots.com and they have a location in Southlake. I think we are going that route this year!

My just turned 4 year old and I went to Safari Park in Southlake, next to Kroger on 1709. It was the neatest place I have ever been. They do parties and have an indoor train, a climb/play area with ball pit and trampolene, mini golf, ceramic painting, tons of Melissa&Doug and KidKraft play centers, with two party rooms. The place is fully decked out in safari theme with trees, tiki huts and wall murals. We will be visiting it again.

There is a Lego Center in Southlake that does parties. Not sure if they have an age limit though.

We are doing an Under the Sea Shamu party for my daughter on Jan. 30th for her 4th b-day party. We are doing it from 11 am till 1 pm. We are serving hot dogs, cake, fruit, chips with dip, ice cream. The games will be pin the tail on the whale. Limbo, pinata and face painting. The face paint is like $5 at Michaels and only the basic designs will be painted. :-) You can also check out a great website that I found when my daughter changed her mind from Hello Kitty to the Under the Sea theme. http://www.kids-birthday-party-guide.com/index.html Also, the 99 cent store in colleyville has plates on sale, 2 packs for 99 cents and there are 20 plates per pack, (they are the plain silver ones in the christmas section). There are a ton of other inexpensive items for parties there as well, just use your imagination.

My son wanted a snake party this year. We are having Grisham Farms come out to do an animal presentation for the kids. They are bringing 10 different animals including a boa constrictor, tarantula, blue tongued skink, hedgehog, and other animals that we chose. We've used them for a birthday party in the past and they are great. They do a little presentation for the kids and then let them touch each animal of they want to.
I'm going to use two bundt pans to make a snake cake. I'll cut each cake in half and form it into an S shape. The cake will be pretty long so I'm going to put it on a piece of MDF that I've covered with a green plastic table cloth so that it will look looked grass.
That's as far as I've gotten in the planning ( his party is in late February).
You can google Grisham Farms. I believe they are located in McKinney. Let me know if you need their contact information. I've been dealing with S. and she is really helpful.
Let me know if you need any additional information and good luck planning your party!

Hi S.,

This is self serving since I operate a swim school in Southlake, but have you tried an indoor pool party?

The indoor pool is heated to 90 degrees and the play is active and every child finds something they like to do in the water.

My favorite pool parties are when one parent gets in with each child and adults and children are having fun.

There are lifejackets for everyone so the kids and kick around and play even if they are not great swimmers, yet.

Of course there are two lifeguard and you can ask for one guard to get in to be a play buddy.

Minimum snacks are required and no decorations are needed. I thinks it's the best kind of party...but then again, I love the water.

Whatever you decide, I hope your child has a great birthday party!

We had my daughter's 3rd birthday at Sunshine Glaze in Southlake. There were several boys there and they loved painting as much as the girls. 3 is about the youngest they recommend, and it is only 1 1/2 hours, but the kids painted then we ate lunch (I brought chick-fil-a) cut the cake and opened presents. It was the perfect amount of time and the kids all got something from the party (we chose for the kids to either paint a plate or a mug)!

Just an idea for you. It is a unique party idea and has not been done 100 times before. The children AND parents love it.

Hi S.,
I had my son's 4th birthday at the Fire Station in Flower Mound. The "Community Room" is free of charge. You just have to put a deposit of $100(they didn't even cash my check). You can also schedule a tour from the Firemen. The kid's loved it. Even the little girls. I don't see why it wouldn't work for 3 yr. olds too. I don't know about Colleyville/Southlake area, but it was a great space. My son's birthday is also in January. I would recommend, if you do this, to take some games for them to play with while waiting for the tour. I happened to have a firetruck with big lego blocks & then took floor puzzles. I also had a pin the dog on the firetruck game. It turned out really well, the parents even enjoyed the tour! Hope that helps.

call The Painted Pottery in Plano. They come to your house to bring pottery for the kids to paint. They can paint $18 items or as inexpensive as $10 items. Or they can arrange for the party to be at a different location their number is ###-###-####
