Need Help or Suggestions for an Embarassing Problem

I have had a recent issue w/spotting after intercourse. I don't think this is normal and am getting quite concerned. I have been w/my husband for 8 years, so nothing has changed in that department. I researched it on the internet and they said it could be a sign of cervical cancer, now that really freaks me out. HELP!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for you responses, I couldn't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. I went to the doctor yesterday and had a pap done. I go back in two weeks and if my pap is normal, he is going to freeze my cervix. He said there are probably irritated cells on my cervix and during intercourse they tend to bleed. He said freezing the cervix will cause those to shed and then be replaced w/new cells and tissue. But if the pap is abnormal then he can't do that, and then we will look into other options. I will keep you guys all posted as the events happen.
Thank you again...soo much!!
M.

Number one....Talk to your doctor. It could be any number of things and chances are, if you have never had an abnormal pap, it isn't cervical cancer. Chances are. It could be something as simple as the sex being too rough, or a lack of lubrication. Just make an appointment with your ob as soon as possible. And do't be embarassed by talking to him/her about it, they hear everything.

alrighty girlfriend...don't jump to conclusions just yet...make sure you set up an appointment with your obgyn and just go from there...i'm pretty sure that whatever it is, it can be taken care of...i know it's hard not to be afraid, but don't wait forever to do something about it...get in as soon as possible, so you can find out the solution and move on...even if you have to call their emergency line and have to speak with a nurse, before you get to your doctor, will probably help you, instead of letting it worry you to death...M.

Go and get an exam and a pap at your gynecologist's office. To be evaluated for your concerns. Good luck.

I sometimes have the same problem, but more often it is due to being too dry and he too forceful. I have HPV and one of the strains that can cause cervical cancer. I get a pap smear every three months to be monitored, and so far everything is ok. It actually takes a few years, almost around 5 years after onset of sysmptoms to actually develop the cancer. Like everyone says, go to your doctor, they really can help. No medicine or anything else strange, just getting checked out. It will work out.

I agree with everyone else. I think you should go see the OB/GYN as soon as you can. It's better to be safe than sorry. I wouldn't worry until you hear what they have to say. Just dont put it off...everyone's situation is different. You are probably ok, just dont worry yourself crazy. Do what you have to do to make sure you are healthy :)

when your endocrine system isn't working properly you can spot after sex. In my case it was a slow or barely functioning Thyroid. I couldn't "take care of myself" or use rough toilet paper when my condition was unmedicated.

other symptoms include:
Dry skin
hairloss more than the normal shedding
weight increase and an inability to shed unwanted pounds despite heavy exercise and careful calorie intake
tiredness and the aches and moodiness that goes with that
easy bruising

Not only should you have a pap smear every year but you should have a full battery of blood tests every year too. My medication is less than $20.00 a month but I have to have blood drawn every 3 months to monitor it.

The very first thing you need to do is contact your doctor and get a pap smear. They aren't fun, but they can detect cervical cancer. I just had one and thankfully can report that I do not have it. Even if you don't have it, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor and they will know better what to do than me. I'm a hypochonriac, so I would have instantly gone to the doctor. Good luck, and I'll pray for you. No one deserves to suffer from cancer.

Ok so this is going to sound wierd considering I dont know you, but here it goes.... Sorry.... When you are haveing intercourse, are you well you know???!!! Sometimes when having sex if your body is not "ready" you will have spot bleeding. If he is more force-ful than usaual then that will happen as well. Dont read what the internet says that will just scare the heck out of you. Make sure you are well lubed while having sex. Sometimes your body will stop producing natural lube and it can cause this spotting. Like if you get dry while having sex. I know from personal, if my husband is stopping alot because he doesnt want to finish I will dry up a bit and it can hurt and in the past have had spot bleeding. If you are real concerned ask you OB and he/she can help you..

I hope this will help you!!! Good luck!!!!

I would definitely get a pap smear. Even if it freaks you out, the sooner you know, the better. Tell your doc about the symptom, too; don't just get a pap smear and not say anything. I would do it right away.

This can also be a sign of uterine fibroids, which are very common and most women do not know they have them or several other things besides cancer.

Remember treatment for any illness or disease is much easier when caught early on vs. waiting too late!

Save yourself from the stress and make a doctor's appt, let them know what is going on so they can get in right away.

This could be something as simple as stress. Have you felt stressed about anything lately? Even a little? Stress can wreak havoc on our systems.
