Dear P.:
A life vest.

No really, anything that does not look sleazy and is comfortable yet nice will be good. Prepare for more draft and wet/cold air on the water. A boat is more informal than any other location (except for the nude beach). One word of caution though: Avoid high heels AND anything with metal or shoe nails on the sole. Get something with only leather or even better rubber under it. Not just to prevent slipping, but you don't want to scratch up the boat... Now THAT would make a bad impression. I would not worry about motion sickness, unless the boat can only fit four people. Bigger boats don't rock much, but check the weather channel for chop just to be sure. If it chops and you are out cruising, keep a hand on the railing near the sides at all times. Falling overboard is as embarrassing to the unlucky one as it is entertaining to the others. Have fun. ;-)

Regards,
W.

I have a couple suggestions. You could ask your husband to subtley ask others in the office what they are planning on wearing. You didn't mention when the party was so I am not sure if there is time to do that. My other suggestion is to go with a dressy casual. You can possibly go with a nautical theme. Maybe nice capri pants (navy blue) with a semi-dressy top (a white top with anchors, fish, etc.). Hope any of this helps.

Hi P.,

You want to be comfortable but also look good because its you husbands boss. I would wear black slacks with a nice top. Maybe a cardigan. That way if you get chilli you have a sweater, or if your warm you can take it off. But the most important thing is that you have to be comfortable.

It's a party go in a nice shirt with slacks. Like you would dress for work or church. Take a coat or jacket it gets relly cold out there sometimes. If you get motion sickness I would say get some medicine. Don't wear too high of heels you could lose your balance. The bottom line just dress you and your husband in the same dress mode nice shirts and slacks/long shirt. Have fun don't worry about what to wear. If it was me going I would dress in my "fancy" jeans and a sweater.
Hope this helps,
Leti

Did they say business casual or just casual? To be on the safe side, I'd wear a casual pair of slacks (maybe grey) with just a button-down long-sleeved shirt. Or maybe a nice pair of jeans with the same shirt. Closed-toe shoes since it's winter. If you wear the jeans, I'd make sure they are in good shape - and dress the outfit up with a nice necklace that can be casual or dressy. Basically, don't go over the top I guess. That's what I'd do! I went on a boat party with my office recently (probably close to the same thing - was a dinner cruise in Kemah and it was business casual) so I just wore slacks and a nice shirt with simple black closed-toe shoes. Have fun!!
