Hello,

I am 22wks pregnant w/twin girls & starting the process of looking for a GOOD Pediatrician in the SW Vegas area. I am REALLY concerned about the whole "vaccine" issue/schedule & want an understanding Dr. that will work with me and validate my concerns (I would like to slow down the schedule). Any suggestions? By the way, we do prefer an HMO Dr. due to the cost of twins & everything is always Double.

Thanks in advance!
T.

So What Happened?

Well, I have only met w/one Dr. so far (Dr. Lamotte)...she was nice, but was definitely NOT willing to work w/us on the vaccines. Her office uses combo vaccines & it doesn't seem like they are willing to order single dose vaccines - Disappointed! So my search continues for an HMO Dr. that will split the vaccines.

Thanks to ALL of you that recommended Drs, however many no longer accept our Pacificare HMO. Appreciate all the Help!!!
T. ;-)

Dr. Winkler at St. Rose Pediatrics. Actually all of the staff at that office are really good.

T. I also see the doctors at Sr. Rose pediatrics and I also have twins. I have also decided to delay vaccines for my boys who will be 2 in December and I haven't had any problems with the doctors there. They just make you sign a form stating that you are going against the doctors advice...blah blah blah...but that's pretty standard. Im not sure you will find a pediatrician that will validate your concerns. Good Luck.

I have twin girls age 5. We see Dr LaMotte at St Rose/ Sienna. She is very good and will explain and address your concerns. My girls received most of their shot on schedule, but I have co-workers with sets of boy twins that do space out their shots. Good Luck. Having twins is such a joy! And yes, double everything, concerning and HMO is the better way to go.

I think you would like Dr. Conti considering your desire to slow the vax schedule. Also, I don't know if you are aware, but there is a yahoo group in Las Vegas for moms with similar vax philosophies. That group actually has a list of sympathetic pediatricians.

I'm not sure if he's an HMO doc, but our current pediatrician is Dr. Sanford White with Ensign Family Medicine, located in the SW off of Fort Apache, near Russell/Trop. ####-###-####. So far we've delayed vaccines and they seemed pretty ok with it (his assistant, at least); I didn't feel like a freak like I did at another doctor's office before, so that was nice.

I've also heard good things about Dr. Conti, as far as alternative vaccination schedules, but he may be more the Henderson direction and is quite busy with a couple locations.

If I think of any others I've heard good things about, I'll let you know!

I have a great pediatrician. Dr Carrie and Dr Jim at Sienna Pediatrics. The phone # is ###-###-####. It is located behind Carrobos grill in the business center behind womens specialty care and realty executives. Love them both and they are great. Both are always happy to see you and they love being a peditirican. Staff is awesome. So is billing with insurances. Check them out. They work with all st rose campuses. I have been going to them for 2 years now. Can't imagine going anywhere else.
Let us know how it works out. Congrats on the twins!
