Need a Unique Idea for a Baby Shower Invitation

I am planning my sister's baby shower the end of June, and I was wondering if anyone had any really unique and fun ideas for the invitation? My sister planned the 2 baby showers for me, and each time she packed the invitation in a little plastic baby bottle or a cute little blue box. I want to do something creative (not just buy the invitations at the store and fill them out) and something that people will like. I would prefer something that's not too expensive, but I'm definately open to all ideas! THANKS!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for everyone's great ideas! In reading all of the responses and in talking to some of my very creative friends, I decided to make individual "sock bouquets" out of baby socks. The invitation is going to go on a little card and attached (just like the cards that come in flower bouquets). The added bonus is that we're going to make it a kind of game so to speak, bring your bouquet (so my sister can get the socks) and we're going to have a door prize for the lucky person! I figured it was a reusable invitation and something my sis would need....hopefully it works out!!!

How about cutting paper stock sheets into triangular shapes. Write the shower facts (where, when, etc.) inside the paper, fold into a diaper shape and pin with a safety pin through the top. Cute & cheap! Enjoy! I bought a lot of cheap dollar store items for my daughter's shower and placed them on a tray with a pillow case over them. We uncovered it for 60 secs. & all the guests had to write down as many items as they could. The one who remembered the most correctly won a prize. Mom got the tray of goodies - all those little things people don't think about, travel sizes of products, an aspirator, pacifier, baby thermometer, bath toys, etc.
Enjoy! I've just written a new ehow article about bridal showers. We are going to have fun!

I had friends who's baby shower invite was a movie poster, advertising their new baby. It was pretty cute. Another one was like a new car window sticker with the price being priceless. It listed thousands of dirty diapers, millions of smiles as some of the included "features". While this isn't in replace of the invite, we asked attendees to buy our daughter a book instead of a card and have them write in the book instead. she's now 5 years old and while I wouldn't pull out the cards all that often, we do read those books a lot. You could make little books as the invite to go with the theme.

This is not necessarily unique but I just sent out invites for my cousin's baby shower and found high quality, pre-printed, custom invites at a GREAT price on vistaprint.com. I was able to order 30 custom invites and matching envelopes (with a pre-preinted return address) for only $25! And you can get them even cheaper with plain envelopes for about $15! The more you order, the cheaper they are per piece.

there is a store called dealers discount on 10 mile between hoover and vandyke closer to vandyke they have all kind of things you can get for babby showers very resonable. you don't have to be a dealer or business person its open to anybody. also if you have a computer type in baby shower ideas or baby shower invitasion you can get alot of ideas.

Does she have an ultra sound pic? You could make your own invites on your computer and include the ultra sound pic, they are so cute. Also, you could have part of the invite be blank, where the guests could write a piece of advise, words of wisdom, letter to baby, etc and then bring with them to the shower to share with the expecting parents.

N.; yes put a bit of glittler and confetti in your letter you send or card, it means putting in the card upside down so it holds the glitter, it does two things, one is cool, two it spills out when they open it, and three every time they look at the little bit of glitter on their floor or in their car, they will be reminded of that party and i did this in a party and had 100 percent show up, they all remembered it, ahahah either way its a great presentation, use the color glitter of pink for girl or blue for boy if they know, if not use yellow or a small combo of both or all, you can find baby confetti too , you can add a few peices to each invitation, either way it can be fun, just dont put a lot in the envelope so it apppears that you have it in there when the envelope moves, ahah just have fun with it, D. s

Have you thought about Scrolls. You can buy your own paper, compose and print. Cut decorative edges and tie with ribbon. At that point you can hand deliver or use small tube mailers. Good luck. Let us know what your final choice is.

How about putting the invite in an empty baby food jar?? Or making a label for the jar with the invite on it?? You can always go on Craigs List and ask if anyone has any empty jars laying around :) Good Luck :)
