Need a Gift Idea

We will be leaving our daycare/preschool that we have been attending for 9 years (between 2 kids). I would love to give them a personalized gift that would be usefull. I would really like to have the kids make a Make-a-Plate but I need a platter as opposed to a plate (they wouldn't have use for a plate but would use the platter each morning to serve breakfast). Does any one know where I could find a platter as opposed to plate? I thought of As You Wish Pottery but a ceramic platter would be way too heavy. Do you have any other gift ideas?

I thought about giving a seperate gift to the teacher or something else for the staff as a whole such as an edible arrangement. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the awesome ideas. I did ask if they had a wish list and the owner/director said she'd ask the teacher. I love the idea of playground equipment or something. Thanks for the link to the platters, I looked last night and could only find plates. I know they can use a platter or tray, they use a flimsy tray at the moment. Keep the ideas coming, I'd love to give more than just a tray.

I took a picture of their logo on the sign and ordered a photo platter. We're also going to get them a new white board and have the kids decorate the frame of it and a little something personal for the owner and his teacher. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas.

Since your children (and you!) have so many years invested in this place, how about a lasting gift, like a sand/water table, or a really nice set of blocks? maybe a collection of picture books for their library?
I think it would be nice to leave something meaningful behind. If you decide to give some books your family can write messages and sign and date the title page. Very special :)

Do they need any work done on their playground? My husband and I spent a weekend doing work at our daycare, and I think they appreciated that more than anything else we could have done for them (except maybe for hiring someone to do the work!) We sanded the swingset to get the rust off and then painted it with whatever it was that prevented the rusting. (I have forgotten what my husband bought.) I also defrosted all the refrigerators in the place - that was a chore!

Well, you could get a bright colored basket and put (some day cares have wish lists so you could use that for ideas) craft supplies that the daycare uses or you could put in a few books as well. But, if you were looking for something more on the cheap side..... you could just get two books and on the inside cover have your children sign their names and you could write a little message (like something you would write on a card) and give them the books.
Hope this helps!

I would ask them what they need most. Most daycares are running on a short budget and I would hate to make something personalized that isn't what they need most. We gave our daycare some playground equipment, because it was needed and I'm sure it has been well-used.
