Mystic Tan??

I need some color and am considering a self-tanner or Mystic Tan. Have any of you been happy with Mystic Tan? How's the color? What about on your face? My concern with all self-tanners is my face. I'm so afraid it will be blotchy or just look unnatural. Also, I use Differin, which is an exfoliant, so the tan won't last as long there, anyway and might not develop evenly (at least that's what I think will happen). Any thoughts or suggestions? We're going to a wedding in less than two weeks and I'd really like to have at least a little color. Also, I've tried using the lotions that gradually darken your skin, but they don't seem to make much difference. Thanks everyone!

Hi There J.
I am a huge fan of the Mystic Tan. I always find it to go on even (everywhere except my feet...you can cover that with certain sandals)I have also had the spray tanning at The Body Wrap Shop. An actual person applies it and it was very even. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi J.,

I have tried everything...I have light skin and freckles!

Mystic Tan works good, but you have to make sure you completely wipe down your body from head to toe afterwards. Don't be afraid to wipe too much off, you can't! If you don't wipe down good afterwards you might have streaks.

Good Luck!

Hi J.,
I haven't used Mystic Tan myself but I've heard alot of great things about it.
I know it's very popular amongst celebrities for the quick tan look and it looks very natural if not more natural then the tanning bed.
If you ever watch The View, the host Elisabeth had the Mystic Tan done before going on vacation and her tan looked really good and natural with no blotching on her face.
I think it's the safest way to get a tan w/out the risk of skin cancer so I would go for it.

I got a Mystic Tan a few years ago. It was okay, not great. They told me it was safe to breathe during the "shower", but it wasn't comfortable breathing in the mist, so I held my breath. They had me put vaseline on my fingernails and toenails so they didn't get stained. They also told me to watch how much of the mist gets on the upper forehead/hairline area and to make sure it doesn't get too dark. My initial tan was okay, but it faded unevenly.

I'm pale and cannot get a good natural tan, although I don't even try that anymore since it's not healthy. I use Clarins Self Tanning products, which are the best I've found so far. Personally, I wouldn't do the Mystic Tan again. It may work well for some, but I didn't like it enough to go back. It may have improved since I did it, though.

Since you have about two weeks, it may be a good idea to try the Mystic Tan or other tanning product very soon so that you'll have time for it to fade if it doesn't turn out...and if it does turn out, then you could re-do it for a darker tan. Before doing any self tan, it works best if you exfoliate and moisturize the area the day before. Of course your ankles, knees, elbows and knuckles tend to be drier and absorb more of the self tan product...so they need extra moisturizer beforehand, so they don't get too dark. I've heard that you can use rubbing alcohol to remove a bad self tan...but I don't know if that works.

Good luck!

Hi J.,

I have tried Mystic tan about 100 times and always end up with splotches somewhere.
Banana Boat has a new tanning lotion. I love it and it shows up about 3 hours after you put it on. It has a primer for your dry spots and your feet then you just rub the rest all over even on your face. It has a dial so you can pick the shade also.

Good Luck

Alright, I don't want to call myself a pro, but I'm close to it! I've worked with Mystic Tan (the direct manufacturer) and still work with its former sister company Palm Beach Tan, Inc. Mystic Tan is a GREAT opportunity! Yes you have to do the steps to get the perfect results, but once you've got that all down, its a piece of cake! They even have a NEW BOOTH out that's much easier and pleasant to try! It takes about a minute and a half because it doesn't spray as much at a time. Which in turn means no streaking (because there isn't all the extra solution on your skin) and it is much easier to breath durring this session. You still can't breathe for the few seconds its spraying your face but otherwise its great! It is called MYMIST and is at all the Palm Beach Tan locations in the area. You can chose from four different mysts to be applied as well...

Palm Beach Tan is where the Mystic Tan booth began so we're proad to know a ton about it! You'll want to be sure they know its your first try and be sure to ask any questions, and watch the video! We've got great instruction and staff, as well as products so that you get the most of your session!

I'd love to share even more info and tips on getting it just right if you'd like, just respond and I'll be happy to help! :o)

All the best!

mystic tanning works great but it dries your skin out quick so you have to CONTINUOUSLY moisturize! otherwise your skin starts looking cracked and scaly. I would do it for three days in a row and then everyother day a week 1/2 before the wedding. i find it helpful to turn my face to each side and the middle for a move even face tan. It's never looked splotchy at all. my knees and wrists have been the biggest problem. be sure to exfoliate your whole body before you go and buy the mystic tan supermoist stuff to keep your sking from drying out. you can also use the supertan to balance your skins ph before tanning. the girls/guys who work at the tanning bed use it to help them establish a based tan so that they tan better in the tanning beds too so you might talk to them about how to do that too.

I've never used mystic tan, but I do get spray tanned at a salon. It looks good, no streaks, instant brown not orange. I'm not sure where you live but the place I go to is in Forney. I'm sure you could find someone where you go.
