My Son Is Really Fussy

My son is two months old and is cutting two teeth. I know he is hurting and not only that he is getting growing pains. We are leaving for Korea in 7 weeks and I know that will cause a problem. I am not sure of some methods to use. I have tried giving him a teether but he only sucks on it for a minute of so before crying because it's cold. I have also tried giving him baby tylonal and baby origel. Anyone have this problem and how did you take care of it?

What can I do next?

my daughter always got ear infections when she got new teeth. The doctor said there was no connection, but I dont believe it. If he's tugging on his ears or anything, you definately want to take him to the ped. before you go on a plane with him.

Also, baby motrin always worked better for our daughter than baby tylenol. I'm not sure why. Maybe you could try some of the teethers that are plastic with different textures instead of something cold. My daughter had a little duck that's arms and feet were different plastic teething things and she loved that thing.

Use the Baby Tylenol or Orajel when it's really bad. What worked for our little one was a good ole fashioned frozen washcloth!

I second the response about Hyland's Teething Tablets. They are fantastic! I also used Dr Christopher's Kid-E-Col. It's a very safe and effective herbal remedy which can be ordered online. Please be cautious about using OTC pain relievers as many of these products have been recalled and carry their own risks. There are a few other things that have been helpful to my children. You could try an amber teething necklace. The baby does not chew on it. When the amber is warmed against the baby's skin it helps with pain and inflammation. Teething necklaces have been used in Europe for a very long time and are recommended by medical professionals there. Under the Nile makes organic cotton toys which can be used as teethers. You can also freeze chamomille tea in a washcloth. It gets a little messy but provides great relief. Since your son doesn't seem to care for the cold you may want to try a wooden teething ring. My little ones really enjoyed it. I hope this helps. Best of luck with your move. Take care!

my baby girl loves a frozen wash cloth. she only chews on it a little bit when she is hurting... it seems to numb her and then she is able to nurse

Great day wishes A. -- try dampening a wash cloth and putting it in the freezer. Your son can "gum" it and the coldness of the cloth will numb his gums (temporarily). I used to do this many times during the day and it never failed to help my son become less fussy over his teething issues.
Best wishes in your new adventure.
