My Baby Keeps Getting Ear Infections and We All Keep Getting Sick!

My family moved to Arizona about 6 months ago. My two boys and I keep getting colds and my baby (1 years old) keeps getting sick. About once a month we get something. I use extra boosts of vitamin C, vitamins, etc. My biggest concern is that I think my baby is getting another ear infection. last time the pediatrician put him on 2 rounds of antibiotics. I don't want antibiotics again. I would really like to go to an alternative doctor who treats ear infections different than main stream medicine. And i would like to see someone who can treat more than just ear infections. I live in Southeast Gilbert. Who would you recommend that can really help?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you everyone for being so helpful and understanding! I am planning to take him in to one of the doctors that was recommended. We don't do dairy in our house and the baby is not on a dairy formula. So, I think going to a doctor will give us more answers! Thank you again for being so helpful. I will let you all know what happens!

Hi A.,

I too had the experience of being the sickest I have ever been after moving to AZ. My whole family experienced it. We just recently moved back to CA and we are feeling so much better. While I was in Gilbert I saw Dr Ruddell DC he is on baseline and Higley rd. Another method for dealing with ear infections is garlic oil, if you can find the odorless it is much better, but you put it in the ear and then a bit of cotton to keep it in. Good luck

If you can see a chiropractor it would help a lot. I can suggest one that has worked pediatrics and is absolutely amazing. You can call Dr. Ryan Hicks at ###-###-#### and let them know what is going on he will be able to help. His staff is wonderful and very helpful.

I would work on boosting the immune systems and there are herbs that can assist the body in doing that. See Brittany at Desert Sage Herbs in Chandler, she will offer some great suggestions. Astragulus is one that is easy to add...I add "sticks" of it to my stews, soups, rice, and grains when cooking and it helps boosts your immunity systems.

Is baby on cow's milk? Ear infections are so often the result of cow's milk or other allergies/sensitivities. When my grandson had constant ear infections and switched to goat's milk, all infections stopped. Chiropractic care can also assist in strengthening the body to ward off these infections. Sometimes a simple neck adjustment is all it takes to clear up the ears.

Reduce or completely eliminate processed foods from your diet, esp sugar. Add fresh veggies and fruits.

Hope these are helpful. Blessings to you.

What about Dr. Laura Weeshoff - she can be contacted at ###-###-#### and is located on Alma School - Just South of Ocotillo in Chandler. She's a naturopathic physician and I'm sure she would be able to help.

Hi A.,

I've also heard great things about chiropractic care for ear infections. I took my son to the chiropractor for some neck issues and it worked wonders. I know there were other babies there for ear infections. We went to see Dr. Alisa Wasserman. Her office is on the corner of Cooper and Elliot. She is wonderful! ###-###-####

Good luck - I have 2 boys under 2 and I know how everyone being sick can take a toll. We're finally healthy in our household after 3 months of it!

I can sympathize...my daughter is on her 6th ear infection. :( Dr Jessi at Naturally Nurturing is a naturopathic doctor with an herbalist and a chiropractor in her office. I went to a lecture on naturally treating ear infections that was really interesting. Dr Jessi can do food allergy tests as well. Their website is www.naturallynurturing.net and they are on Val Vista just north of Frye.

Is your son drinking cows milk once I took cows milk out of my daughters diet her ear aches stop. She would get them once a month one time it ended her up in the hospital after 3 rounds of meds.

I can highly recommend a naturopathic physician. Her name is Dr. Farra Swan, phone# ###-###-####. Her office is located right off the 101 and Southern Ave on the Tempe/Mesa border. 2435 E Southern Ave. Ste 8, Tempe. I've been seeing her since she delivered my 2nd daughter at home back in 1995 and she is a wonderful, caring doctor. She is licensed to write prescriptions if need be, but will work with you on alternatives first.

The nurse at my daughter's old school recommended Wally's Ear Oil for an ear infection my daughter had and after using it for only 3 days, the infection was gone! You can get it at pretty much any health food store including Hi-Health. Also, Great to keep on hand for those wake you up in the middle of the night kind of pain from ear infections!

If you want to talk further, my ph# is ###-###-#### Hm and ###-###-#### Cell.
