So What Happened?

Thanks everyone, My daughter now loves being in the tub. I took a shower with her a few times so that she can get use to running water plus sitting down and playing with her and her toys, I bought foam letters that stick to the wall and just threw them in the tub with her other toys and now she cant wait to get in. since she crawls, when she is playing i find her crwaling to bathroom now..lol. thank you all for your great advice!

Toys!! Not a lot start of with her fav's then make her feel confortable once she gains that confidence in the water again. Keep a towel near by to dry off her face when wet maybe she is not use to that effect.

From your description, it sounds like she's afraid of the running water. Have you tried filling the tub while she plays in another room, and then bringing in her to a ready-to-go bath? My little one doesn't like the noise of the running water, but loves the bath itself. Just an idea...

Aubri, Have you tried taking her in the tub with you? I did that with all my kids. They loved it. trick is to get the water ready then get both of you undressed sit on the edge and then get in. don't try to sit down from standing while holding baby. someone will get hurt. you could slide. hae your husband hand her in to you and then be ready to take her after you get her washed. or take her in the shower with you. we did that for years also. worst case scenario give her a bath in the sink for as long as it works. my kids loved that also. and added benefit there is the sprayer to hose them off and get all the bubbles off. we made a game out of that and getting the hair done was much easier. goodluck

Hi,
She is scared becaue the regular bathtub in her eyes is huge, so you might want to get in with her or put the baby tub in until she feels comfotable with the size of the regular tub, and put toys in like the ones that stick on the wall or the soap that she can scribble on the wall with, and make sure to always have the non-skid mat. Hope this helps.

I used to sit in the tub with my children. My son still doesn't care for the tub, but he likes showering with me - go figure. I would think the shower would be scarier.

I've been taking my baby in the big tub with me and just bathing with him myself since he was a couple months old. Have you tried taking the bath with your daughter? I've also showered with him and he loves that; it feels like a water park to him.

My daughter went through the same thing. It ended up being htat she was overwhelmed by the large nature of the big bath tub. I bought a smaller duck bathtub that we kept in the larger tub for her to bathe in

She loved it! And then when she got too big for that, she made a very easy transition to the big tub as she had already been "bathing" in it. We did have a few days where the duck tub was outside of the bathtub, but we tried to keep it inside the tub.

Hope that helps your daughter

I agree with the others who said to take her in the bath with you. I have bathed with my son ever since he was only a few weeks old. It's nice bonding time! And he's quite the mover, so being in the tub with him helps me keep a better eye on him.

Go to Target or Walmart and buy her a little blow-up tub, it fits into your big tub. This way she'll feel safe and comfortable in a smaller space instead of the big wide open tub. They have cute ones with ducks on it, she'll love it.

Here is an article that I hope might be helpful for you...

I don't know if this has been suggested, but how about getting in with her, or getting in first and sitting down and then inviting her to join you?

Best wishes,
J.
