Moving to the Area - Missouri Valley, IA
Hi moms,
I just have a couple favors to ask! :) We are getting ready to move to the KC area. (Work is in Leawood, but family on north and east sides) It looks like we will have to rent for about a year. Can anyone recommend a place that is reasonably priced and in a good location? Also, looking for referrals for OBGYN (I am due in September!) and pediatricians. Even a great Catholic Church referral would be lovely too.
Thanks so much and blessings to all,
AJ
So What Happened?™
Thanks ladies,
We just found out we are now going to be in Omaha area instead!! On to the next adventure. But, I do appreciate the time and input. ;)
Peace be with you,
Amanda

I go to Dr. Gene Vandenboom. He works out of Rockhill Women's Care at St. Joseph Medical Center off of State Line Road and I-435. He has been my OBGYN for a few years now and he delivered my daughter. He is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend him.

Lee's Summit Physician Group is awesome. They have urgent care hours 7 days a week, and a bunch of Dr. to pick from. I have been going there for 6 years and would not go anywhere else. Kansas City OBGYN group is a great group, they are located at St. Joseph Hospital, I see Dr. Eaton, she delivered my daughter. any ideas on what area of kansas city you are moving to? Like all cities there are good ones and bad ones. Good Luck. Christ the King Parish is a good one, my daughter also goes to school there.

Good luck with the move! It's a great area. We live in Grain Valley so are very close to Lee's Summit and Blue Springs...where we do everything. I have an AWESOME OB, Dr. Mara Galvin with Rockhill Women's Care at St. Luke's East Hospital, she also has an office with St. Joseph Hospital. A christian lady who speaks of her faith and both hospitals are Catholic affiliates. I would recommend Pediatric Associates for a pediatrician. They have the BEST office hours: late during the week and until 5 or 7 on the weekends. They have an office in Lee's Summit and also in Kansas City (an area called the plaza if you're at all familiar with it).
I am a confirmed catholic, but go to a christian church so can't speak really first hand regarding the catholic churches in the area, but have a friend who loves the church in the legacy park area of Lee's Summit, MO.
Good luck!

The Liberty area has great schools and lots of great places to live. There is the Northland OB/GYN located by Liberty Hospital. Dr. Carghill who is terrific, there are other doctors there who are just as wonderful. www.northlandobgyn.com And we go to the Liberty Clinic for regular Family Practitioners. ###-###-####. Don't have a Catholic Church to recommend but there are some in the area. Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.

I live in Blue Springs, Missouri which is east of Kansas City. It is a great city and a very good school district. I take my children to Cockerell & McIntosh Pediatrics, they are located at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs. I had my 1st there and loved it, would have gone back with my 2nd but needed to go to the other hospital (CenterPoint) for other reasons (another great hospital). There are two big Catholic churches in Blue Springs, sorry don't know their names but they have a good number of parishiners that attend. One of them I know has a school. The OBGYN group that I go to is Hauser Braby Health Care for women. They are located at CenterPoint hospital in Independence, 5 minutes from Blue Springs and they service both hospitals (CenterPoint and St. Mary's). Hope this helps and I wish you a safe and happy move and delivery.

AJ or Jo,
Not sure what to call you. But anyway, I can't really
recommend a good Charismatic Catholic Church. But I
can recommend a good Non-Denominational Church. It is
called Harmony Vineyard. Check out their website and maybe
you can find someone there to also help you find a good
place to live. My best to you and God Bless you!!!

I can recommend a great OB/GYN Dr Megan Sneed. She has two offices- one in the Belton/Raymore area and one around Research Med Ctr. She has a calming way about her and a dry wit that naturally puts you at ease. The OB Ward at Research is A1 too.

If you end up in the Lee's Summit area, Our Lady of the presentation is a nice parish, and Preferred Pediatrics is an awesome place to take your little one. We see Dr. McEntire and he's great.

I live in Lee's Summit and feel it is a great place to live and offers all of the things you are looking for.
There are some newer and very nice apartments here as well as nice but older and less expensive too.
As for OBGYN, Associated Women's Clinic is great, they deliver at St. Lukes East in Lee's Summit as well as St. Mary's in Blue Springs (just East of LS). I go to Dr. Robert Chang, but have heard good things about many of the other Dr's there.
I have to second Pediatric Associates for pediatricians. They are very nice, have good hours and can get my kids in right away when I call. Dr. Debra Williams is great and so are the other Drs there.
There are 3 good Catholic Churches in Lee's Summit. We currently belong to Our Lady of the Presentation. They have a great Early Childhood Center for Preschool and gradeschool as well. I live right near St. Margret's which is on the East side of Lee's Summit and have gone there on occasion. It is nice, brand new and is getting their parish established...I would go there but prefer the religious Ed that OLP offers for the kids. Holy Spirit is the other Catholic church and it is on the South side of town. It has just built a new church and they do have some religous education and also have a preschool that is run out of the downstiars. I have heard great things about this church too.
Good luck and when you get in town, be sure to get in touch with Parents As Teachers. It is a state funded program for every child birth-5 years old. It is great for your children and and could even be a place for you to use your early childhood experience if you ever wanted to work some. Good luck!
