Has he seen The Sand Lot? (My 8 year old LOVES that movie--it's older but SO funny.) And there is a Sand Lot 2.

Mine also loves Tom & Jerry & Looney Tunes.

My son is 7 and loved Cars 2, The Smurfs, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Dolphin Tale when they came out in the theatres over the summer. My daughter who is in 5th grade really enjoyed Mr. Poppers Penguins--may be good for your son too. Out last year but they also still love are Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek 4 (they love the whole Shrek series actually!)

Kung Fu Panda 2 just came out yesterday. If he hasn't seen the first one you can buy them both. My son loves How to Train Your Dragon & Surf's Up. He is 7.5 years old.

My son is 8 too, I'm in my mid 20's and what I've been doing here lately is bringing in some of the movies I loved when I was his age. I watched "The Goonies" with him the other day and he LOOOVED it, it was one of my very faves and still is! It does have a bit of adult language, but nothing too bad, he knows if he shows any sort of reaction to a bad word like big eyes and a look or an "aw did you hear what they said" , he doesn't get to watch it anymore, so he's pretty cool about bad words. I've been getting alot of the great older Disney movies from flea markets and yard sales too, and he adores them as I did when I was a kid. For boys I've noticed, cuz I have 5 nephews too, they really enjoyed Aladdin, The sword in the stone, Lion King, Jungle Book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, things like that. As far as newer movies, wow, there are so many good ones out there now. I love the movies too that have great stories from the bible and people from the bible, such as Joseph King of Dreams, he really likes that movie. But he's a total Action/superhero movie dude too..he has The A Team, Xmen movies, Ghost Rider(one of his faves), the Iron Man movies, and all the Transformers ( he love, love, loves those) If you're looking for a newer movie in that type I think Captain America is out now, not sure though, and maybe Green Lantern. He also likes the Pirates of the Carribean movies really well. He likes Despicable Me, Bolt, Astro Boy(really likes) and alot of the really great animated movies that have come out the past few years. Did I list enough?! lol Hope this helps, and hope he loves what you get him! Have a Merry Christmas!

My son (who is almost 8) really enjoyed Journey to the Center of the Earth - the newer version with Brendan Frasier. He also likes the National Treasure movies.
