This past Thanksgiving my younger brother passed away, he was 30. For Mother's Day I would like to get something special for my Mom from my brother. I want it to be some sort of keepsake. She already has a teardrop necklace with his ashes in it that she wears everyday. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks Ladies

I am so sorry for your loss! I like the tree idea too!

Does your Mom have old movies of you guys as kids? You could have them all put on DVD so that she can watch them whenever she wants.

Was he involved in anything that you could make a shadow box out of? Like sports or military?

How about a photo cd set to music with his pictures.

You could get a nice poem with a collage of pictures of him framed for her.

there are websites where you can send in an article of clothing and they will make a teddy bear from it. What about a quilt made from his clothing?

I also like the idea of putting photos of him over the years into a slide show set to music or doing a scrap book of his life.

a ring with only his birthstone and his name ingraved on the inside

i also love the idea of a montage of home movies converted to a dvd

I lost my son (22) this past June. Things like the memory stone and mother's ring are great ideas. I also love anything that is memories of my son. Another idea is a slide show with pictures and his favorite songs. I also won a photo keepsake box from Things Remembered and had my sons name, birth and death date on it. Also "Love you Infinity" and "forever 22" engraved on it. It sits on my piano and I keep things that are important to him in it along with some pictures. I have two roses dried from his casket arraingments and they will go in there as soon as I can figure out how to protect them from crumbling. My daughter and her husband gave me a throw with my son's picture on it. I love that also.

I am so sorry for the loss your family is experiencing. I hope you are finding peace and rest during this overwhelmingly sad time.

- A tree or memory stone in the garden are both beautiful ideas if you mother enjoys spending time outside.
- If you are looking to celebrate her as a mother to both of you and not just focus on the death of your brother, I would suggest a "mother's ring" with both of your birthstones embedded. My mother wears hers every day and has for the last 20 years. If there are only two children I would suggest adding her birthstone and your father's to make the band look balanced.

You know your mother, but I am thinking that giving her something "from your brother" is kind of an odd idea b/c he's no longer with you so it won't be from him. I understand the fact that you want to let your mother know that he is still very much a part of your lives, but there are so many other ways to do so.
