When my now 5-year old was that age, we went to Music Together. I had tried Kindermusik, but didn't really enjoy it. We went to Music Together from about 9 months to 3 years, until his pre-K schedule conflicted with class. They are online and have classes in lots of places. We attended one at SMU and then in Southlake after moving here.

I know Gymboree does music and art classes once a week...the one we go to offers Saturday classes. Not sure if you have one nearby...you can search their website by zip code.
It is the Gymboree Play and Music, associated with the clothing stores.

I love Kindermusik! I started with my son at 6 months, and 4 years later he still loves it. Our class meets at Highland Meadows in Colleyville (Pool & Hall Johnson). I drove from Bedford when we started.
Call Ms. Robin & Ms. Tami for a free class!

Kindermusik is an awesome program for child development. We use music and movement as the medium to teach children from birth to 7 years old. I teach classes in Dallas & Plano but to find a class nearby, you can go to Kindermusik.com and put in your zip code. It should tell you the closest classes. My son has been doing it since he was 4 mos old and I can't say enough about it! You can go to any class for a free preview class just to try it out. Hope it works out!

I agree about Kindermusik! I teach for the Korner Kottage as well as in Arlington. Give me a call or email me if you have any questions and we can figure out when would be a good time for you to come visit a class.

Hi C.! I live in HEB too, and we've had our two sons (ages 1 and 3) in Kindermusik at the Music Academy at First Methodist Church of Hurst (at Pipeline and Hurstview) for the past couple of years. They love it! This session will be over soon, and I'm not sure if they'll be doing a summer session or not. We've done the evening class some semesters, which meets at 6, but I'm not sure if they have Saturday classes. The Hurst Rec Center also has music and art classes for kids 18 months and up, but I think they're all offered on weekday mornings. Good luck!

Hey -
For an 18 month old, The Little Gym is a great place. They have a "Mom and me" class for about that age. It does a great job of exposing them to music and to "rules" in that there are "starts" and "Stops" to the activities. Further, it works on the gross motor skills that a child that age needs. My son had sensory integration disorder and was actually in therapy (occupational and physical) at that age and they recommended the Little Gym class for him. He has since discontinued therapy, but still goes to gymnastics (he is 4 now). I was AMAZED at how much he enjoyed the gross motor skill activities and how much he learned from them.

As for art classes, I wouldn't really consider those until he is a little bit older. My son took an art class (summer class for 2 weeks) when he was 3 and LOVED it. But before that, he had not really been interested and did not really have the fine motor skills to enjoy doing it. Now, he draws all the time.
