Hello, I am a working mother of 2 wonderful girls, ages 3 and 6 in West Park. Lately I have been spending so much time with my older daughter in Brownies that I have not spent so much time with my 3 year old. This weekend is all about her. Does anyone have any suggestions on something fun and different to do with a 3 year old. I was thinking somewhere where she going have fun doing arts and crafts, I just don't know where to go.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I just wanted to say that me and my daughter had a wonderfull weekend. On Thursday we went shopping and out to lunch (just the 2 of us). Then I took her to the West Side Market and we had so much fun tring all the different samples and food. So Thank you all for all of your wonderful ideas.

J.,
Take her to the Painted Penguin at South Park Mall in Strongsville. She gets to pick out what she wants to paint and then she paints it her own way. My niece and nephew love it and I will take my own daughter there when she is old enough. Then you can always take her to a movie after because they put in a new Cinemark. Or they have Johnny Rockets in the mall where they sing. She'll have a ball. N.

My son LOVES the West Side Market. We have lunch, buy some fruit and he always gets a cupcake. It is great too because it is indoors in the winter and outdoor in better weather and across the street when it is nice there are always street vendors, we have been danced to a Polka Band. As well there is a coffee shop across the street that has a big screen viewing area and they play kids movies. So, if it is bad weather mom can have a cup of coffee and son get to have hot-coco and we watch a free movie.
Also I have tried Air Adventures in Breksville/Broadview Hieghts. They are very fun too and you get to play with them. And they are open some nights after work, my husband takes the kids and it is mommy time.

Other fun places include the zoo, Children's museum in Cleveland, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Botanical Garden (with all the butterflies!), etc. If she is used to having to go places like that with her sister, she may enjoy exploring on her own with just you.

Honestly, anything that gives you both a chance just to spend time together and talk about a common experience will be wonderful. Even a walk through one of the Metro parks looking for signs of spring!

check the libraries, or Michael's, fabric stores. even Home Depot. all of these has craft times usually on the weekends! also, The Lake Erie Science Center in Bay has good classes. Most of these you can find on you computer, or just call them!

HI J.,

There are two pottery painting places. One is on Detroit Rd. in Westlake and the other on the corner of Lorain and Stearns in N. Olmsted. I prefer the one in N. Olmsted.

When I thought my daughter needed more Mommy time I would take her for "coffee" once a week. We would go to Carribou and sit by the fire. I would have coffee and she would pick any drink she wanted and a snack. Sometimes we would go to the book store first and bring a new book along for our coffee break.

I don't know of any arts and crafts places, but if you find some let me know.

Have fun.
K.

I have been taking my daughter to a paint your own pottery place. I think there's one in North Olmsted...in or near the Mall. There are others around too.
I've been taking my 4 yr old since she was 2. We have been creating an exclusive line of "Sarahware". My mother is the proud recipient of this one-of-a-kind dishware. It's been a lot of fun. I go to the Kiln in Broadview Heights but there are others closer to you.

HEY I just did a google and found a really good websearch!!

http://www.mapmuse.com/

In the "Choose an interest to Map" scroll down to "Paint your own pottery". It's an awesome site! There are tons of other suggestions too! Thanks for asking the question. I would never have found this site. I'm so excited.

Also, the Children's Museum is always a hit with my daughter. We've been members since May 2007 and if we lived closer we'd be there almost weekly.
