Any suggestions on how to take milk of my one month old's tongue? It is not thrush I know what that looks like.
What I use to do was take warm water and a clean wash cloth soak the wash cloth in the warm water and have the baby suck on the cloth or try to wipe the babies tongue with it.

May I ask why you need to remove it?
Gently scrape it with a popscycle (sp) stick. If it doesn't come off easily, it is the early stages of thrush. It doesn't hurt anything for milk to remain on his toungue; once teeth come in then you want to brush them.
Why would you want to remove it? I am sure that would not be pleasant for a little one month old nor is it necessary. This happens normally after feeding and usually stays there for a while, then washes away from their own saliva some time later. I notice my son has a white tongue sometimes over an hour after nursing....then he's ready to eat again :-)
I would just leave it alone and not bother with it, it doesn't hurt anything to be there.......
My 2 month old has the same thing. I asked the pediatrician about it yesterday, and she told me to do nothing. She said the white tongue is caused by formula, and I should not treat it. Only fungal infection requires treatment, and you can distinguish that because it's on the sides of the mouth and not just on the tongue.
