Menstrual Cycle After Second Baby

I had my second baby back in March and because of breastfeeding didn't get my first menstrual cycle till October, than not again till last month. The first one in October was normal, but last month and this month the flow has been very heavy, which has never been normal for me past the first day, and this has lasted for several days, almost the whole cycle. I csn't use tampons cause the flow is too much, and I have leaked THROUGH thick pads, and I am changing every hour or less and getting up at night to change. Is this normal after having more than one baby? I did not have this issue with my first daughter. Will it right itself after time, or is this something I should go to my doctor about? I am currently not on any birth control for health reasons. I just dont know if this is normal and will fix itself or if I should plan a trip to my doctor's office.
Thanks in advance for any advice and opinions!

You should have already scheduled an appt with your doctor. He or she may tell you that its normal after pregnancy and breastfeeding but still get it documented. I went on a job interview after my first child (4mnths after delivery) and my cycle was so strong that it went through the pad, clothes, and onto the seat I was in (lets just say I didn't get that job!). Mine fixed itself but it was a painful and costly experience for me. I just had my daughter in September and I just went through the same experience so it may be something that your body has to work out on its own but again talk to your doctor (use those benefits). I hope all works out. How is Turkey? I'm in Naples, Italy (dirty).

I have no medical advice but the extreme change in the flow of your cycle would have me calling and talking to a doctor. I think it is better to seek out information than to wonder and worry. Take good care of yourself. Make the call.

This does not sound normal to me, I would make an appt. I was going to say it sounded like you could be having a miscarriage but now that i reread your message you say it was the same last month..hmmmmmm..go ahead and get checked out just to be sure..good luck..j

Hi J. H,
This is normal. I am a mother of four children and breast feed every child except my first. I have experienced what you are going through. I have even not had a menstrual cycle for four months straight and when she did decide to come on I could not leave the house because I was bleeding very heavily. I called the base and they told me that it was normal as long as I was not feeling sick or getting a fever. It will eventually get back to normal. It is not uncommon. If you do feel sick or need reassurance call the base and speak to the OB/GYN staff. Hope this helps and congrats on the new baby.

Hi :)
After my second baby its still the same as after the first. I would go to the dr. My mom had really heavy ones and she ended up with a fibroid tumor in her uterus. Jus t to be safe Id totally go get that checked out good luck :)

I just had my second baby over the summer and did not have this. Is it possible that you could have gotten pregnant and miscarried early and not know it? I think you should ask your doctor about it...even if it is nothing to be concerned about, at least you'd be able set your mind at ease. A mom of two little ones has enough to worry about already!

I'd go see the Dr. You may have become pregnant and then miscarried without knowing it. I know how freaky it is when you bleed so much and you're just waiting for it to stop. When your cycle is so heavy (mine is after #3) and it goes beyond the normal time you should be bleeding (3-7 days depending on what's normal for you.) it's time to go to the Dr. Besides, the best thing that would happen is you visit the Dr. and they say no worries. And the next best thing is they say we know how to fix this. I'm betting on the second one.
Take care of yourself and don't ignore your instincts. This is what's best for you and your family.
