Menstration
My sister has a 10yr old that has started having a vaginal discharge heavy enough to have her wearing panty liners. It is clear and orderless. Is this normal for a girl of her age who has not began menstruating.
So What Happened?™
Thank you everyone for the information I will pass it along to my sister. She will be very gratefull.

The heavy discharge is an indicator that periods aren't far away. I had the same problem when I was young. Only I didn't know that was a warning. I thought there was something wrong with me and didn't talk to my mother about it. I just worried all the time needlessly. Be thankful that she feels comfortable talking to you about it. If the discharge is worse sometimes than others, she may even be ovulating w/o having the periods yet. Here's a secret....Carefree has pantiliners that say "breathable." They really are better than the others. Because they do get the air (somehow) you feel much cleaner and won't have the odor problems. I can't say enough about them. They are harder to find. They must say "breathable." The only place I find them all the time is CVS Drug Store. NOT Meijer or Target.

My little Niece had this and she is only eight.
Her Doctor was not concerned.

Your sister needs to get her daughter to a doctor and have her looked at. If her pediatrician can't handle that kind of thing, then call Associates in Gynocology and Obstetrics in Ann Arbor, MI. ###-###-####. It is not normal to have discharge that heavy for anyone, let alone a 10 year old girl. It could be a sign that she will have heavy menstrual cycles (I did so I know they suck) or it could be a sign of something more serious. She needs to see a doctor. Good luck and I hope all is well.

HI T.,
I started my period early too when I was around 10 years old...I think her body is starting to give signs that your niece is about to start soon! I would have her mom take her to an OBGYN...its never too early to start seeing a doctor who specializes in this area.
Good Luck!

It sounds to me like her body is getting ready for menstruation. I can remember getting it for awhile before I started my period.

It sounds like she is ovulating. I would take her to the dr. to be sure. It could also be an infection...
