This has never happened to me before, but since yesterday happened twice. I shake. I was cutting coupons yesterday and the paper i was holding, my hand couldnt stop shaking and i wasnt shaking it. After about an hr it stopped. So today we are out, and my legs start shaking from knee to foot as though they are about to give out on me. I am scared because it happened two days in a row and spontaneously. Has this ever happened to anyone? Is this just something that will go away? I read online about neurological problems that can be causing this... My Doc isnt back til next week and I am scared.

Get to a chiropractor~ They are actually nerve Doctors. Not just bone crackers. Find a good one and at least hear him or her out. I work in a chiropractors office as an assistant, I am not a Dr. and only a Dr. can tell you why you are shaking. Have you had a blood sugar work up done lately? Any blood work done? S.

Seeing your doctor is your best bet. Keep a log of everything that is happening, how long, when and where etc.
If you are a big diet soda, or sugar free consumer, get it out of your diet. Example asparitame, artificial sweetners..... Long term research is showing a link with MS symptoms and artificial sweetners. Something to link about.
Best of luck.

It does sound like something neurological. When your doc gets back, get into see him/her. Have you changed your diet in any way? Taking any new supplements? Anything new to your body could also set off something like that. If it continues happening before doc gets back and it includes slurring speech, go to the ER to get checked out. Not to scare you, but you'd rather be safe than sorry.

Maybe I'm overly cautious, but I wouldn't mess with it. It could be anything from the epidural problems mentioned, to low blood sugar, to a neurological problem. I wouldn't wait, I'd get into the doctor. If it's never happened before, and if you can't pinpoint it to a specific food or even an activity, please don't wait.

It can be anything from a pinched nerve in your back... to blood sugar dropping, low iron, B-12 deficiency.... to anything! Get some blood work, keep track if it happens again (i.e.What had you eaten - are you eating regular meals? caffeine? medication side-effect? sleep deprived?stressed?any edema? anemia?) I used to carry my (heavy!) purse on a shoulder strap, until one day my arm wouldn't stop shaking - found that I had a pinched nerve in my back but it soon went away after I changed purses - I carry short a handled one and carry like a briefcase. Having a physical is a good thing. Don't be afraid - just make sure a few important people aware of the situation until you can get into seeing the dr. If the concern continues, worsens or you begin to obsess about it, go to one of the associate dr's or see someone for peace of mind. Good luck to you.

I've had this happen to me during my menstrual cycle I think when my iron levels dropped. But if it goes on another day, I'd see the doctor asap, just to allay your fears. See if there's another doc on call...

I actually started getting heart palpatations and jitters and shortness of breath. Turns out I have a much higher sensitivity to caffeine than I did before I had my girls. Even if I have too much chocolate I'll feel this way. So, it could be caffeine. If you're not a coffee drinker, it may be pop or chocolate or any other foods/drinks that has caffeine in it. I'd go see a doctor though.... In my opinion, ALL medical questions should go to a doctor. You can certainly ask people what they think, but if you're shaking like that and are nervous about it, I'd at least call and speak to a nurse or make an appt.

I would check with the the Doctor, who is talking your current Dr.'s patients. Just to give you peace of mind. You don't want to worry till your Dr comes back next week. That could be more stressful for you.

Please don't let yourself think the worst as it could be something very simple. Watch your eating patterns until you see the doc. Do you have diabetes? Maybe it is the unequivical amount of certian foods that could be out of balance. Take time to relax and take account of your foods and activity until you see the Dr. Are you overtired? stressed? moving? (which sometimes causes us to use muscles we don't use that often). Write down or take note of anything that is out of the norm. It might be a simple thing.

Do you take any antidepressants or anti seizure drugs (possibly for depression)? These can cause tremors in the body...especially when I am very tired. I've been off of the meds for 3+ years and still get them every once and awhile when I am really tired. The meds mess with your brain and can do permanent damage like that. I hope you get an answer.

Of course the best thing to do is seek professional advice here, but from what I know it could be anything from low blood sugar or low blood pressure, or as you said, possibly something neurological. Think about what you ate/drank or medications you've taken, what you were doing at the time, were you stressed or tired? So many factors to consider. I have some major neurological issues with my spine that affect my arms/legs and there wasn't a sudden onset of those symptoms. I had been dealing with pain and weakness prior to the shaking and legs giving out. I wouldn't wait for the doc to get back if it persists. Go to an ER if need be, otherwise make an appt with a doc ASAP. You'll probably need a blood work up and some tests to figure out what's happening.
Best of luck to you!

I don't know when you had a baby but I was just talking to a woman this evening at a party who's son was 6 months old and her leg kept giving out on her due to the epidural she had when she had her son. She said sometimes she gets a numbing tingling feeling in it too. I don't know how long the effects can last but it may be something to look into.
