Well guys this is a very stressful time for me. I have looked at so many homes I don't know where to begin. I have looked in the snyder(amherst), cheektowaga (maryvale) and also some in south buffalo. Price range from 50,000 to 120,00. Does anyone have any sugestions about the schools or where might be a better place to to buy my first home. Remember I am a single mom. I recently got engaged but we have not planned a wedding yet. I am buying this home on my own.

What can I do next?

A.,
Cheektowaga has some of the highest taxes in the area. Unless you don't mind paying even higher taxes then you should have to, I would look in Cheektowaga after your other choices. Amherst and Williamsville probably have some of the best schools. Your best bet would probably be to look into Amherst (Snyder) area like you mentioned. Hopes this helps!

Hi A., I know it's both exciting and stressful while house shopping. First and foremost my biggest thing to you is not to be in a hurry. There are plenty of homes out there waiting for new owners. DONT RUSH! I speak from experience when I say don't rush.I live in Lakeview a small town within Hamburg. I love it here. The Frontier school districts are great. Well, Im not sure about the high school as of yet, my son is just enetering the High School this coming school year, but the Elementary schools have been FANTASTIC as well as the middle school. As far as South Buffalo goes, I would stay clear of it. I grew up in South Buffalo and it's far from what it used to be. The area is declining and fast. My Mom still lives there and I tell her to get out all of the time. There are houses all over the WNY area within your price range but please stay away from South Buffalo. As far as Cheektowaga goes I don't know much about it other than it's not somewhere I would chose to live. To me it's just to darn busy. Good Luck house hunting and please do not let it get to you, you should enjoy this experience. Best Of Luck

We just recently moved from Cheektowaga(Maryvale) area. My son is only 2 so I never really dealt with the school but I always heard it was a good school district. Just moved to Elma and my son will go to Iroquois schools when it is time. I researched and Iroquois schools are good. Here is an article I just read:
