I own a home based business and would like to provide my customers with the convenience of being able to pay by credit cards. I have received many offers from companies but I don't know who is honest/reliable or charges the lowest fees. I am looking to other Mom's who have home based businesses to recommend a good company who can provide this for me. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!

What can I do next?

Hi Michelle,

I have a home-based business as well. I don't know how you are getting payments (parties, etc), but mine are done online, and for me, paypal has been a life saver

I am a children's photographer and work out of my home. I have used paypal. I think they charge 3% of any transaction. It is very easy and convenient. Most people are familiar with it because of ebay.

To whom this may concern,
I am a merchant service provider and to be perfectly honest I have been in this business for ten years and what I have learned in this business is that any merchant service provider can quote you the lowest rates possible, but are you going to see that rate on your monthly statement is the question. And the answer to that question is NO. The fact of the matter is that every credit card you take has a different cost associated with it rather it is a standard visa or mastercard or a rewards or corporate card. They all have different fees associated with them, so what I have learned to do is tailor a program for merchants based on the type of business they are and based on how they will be taking the cards. For my clients that has seemed to be the most cost effective and best way to establish service for my clients. So I would say to you instead of looking for the lowest rate possible, look for the program that is going to cater to your business the way you are going to take credit cards and that alone will save you a tremendous amount of money on your processing. If you have any questions feel free to contact M. by email at ____@____.com I hope I was able to help point you in the right direction in this matter.

There is a company named Global merchant group that I had interviewed with a few months back, right when I got hired at D&M. They had a great program with decent rates. I would need to look for their info. If you still need some one, let me know and I will find their info.

Could you so something through PayPal? Seems like it would be easy to set up using their website (www.paypal.com). Also, a lot of people are already familiar with it from it's popularity on ebay. And it's very secure. I don't know about their fee schedule though.
