I have a simple question. I want to buy a carpet shampooer but I can't seem to find any reviews in the consumer guide. I'm wondering if anyone has one that they really like and would recommend. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Have a great day!

I have had incredible results from the Bissel Pro Heat.
We were having a party and one of the kids knocked a very large glass full of sangria onto my white carpet. Fast action helped, but, there is NO stain on my carpet at all!! I use it about once per month and my carpet is free of stains or odors. I am extatic!

WOW A.--- good for you--- talk about scripting your OWN life!!! --- I suggest a Bissel carpet cleaner -- my older daughter ( almost 38) swears by hers to keep a small house with a busy boy, 2 cats and a typical not-too-helpful husband clean and spot- --- well not free - but quite reasonable --

I prefer the hoover steamvac. i get the bigger one, it costs more but is worth it. You can even use it easily on any linolium or hardwood floors. It makes cleaning a snap. I don't even mop any more, i just get my hoover out, and clean that way.
We bought the Bissell at Costco and really love it. We have two cats and a dog and a small child as well as all the mess that comes with them. We no longer have stains or spots on our light beige carpet. It was about $200 and was recommended to us by another mom with pets. It's a great cleaner and the costco one came with all the attachments and a couple bottles of cleaner. I've seen the same one at sam's club for the same price.
We had the Bissel ProHeat, for the past year.
LOVED it. We were housebreaking a puppy, with wall to wall carpet kind of loved it. Raising a super energetic 6 year old boy in need of a bath kind of loved it. Husband and all of his friends playing rugby in the mud kind of loved it.
It worked FANTASTICALLY, actually easier to use then the vacuum...(although you DO have to vacuum first). There was a time where I was using it once a week.
Only 2 problems:
1. It's broken. First the attachments went. Then last week the whole thing quit working. I've kept it scrupulously clean...so it's not that.
2. I can't find anyone in Seattle who repairs them. NO ONE I've called or gone in to see will touch Bissels. Apparently the common gripe is that they're always full of water, hair, and dirt.
So it's a fantastic machine, when it's working. When it's broken? Right now I've got a couple hundred dollar paperweight. I even gave up and took it apart myself, in desperation, to see if I could find an obvious problem. Nope.

Someone just got me the name of a shop that is certified and willing to work on them up in Everett!!! Huzzah.

I have the Hoover Steam Vac. I really like it. We bought a house that has beige carpets and we are a messy lot. I use it to get spots out of my beige carpet and it works like a charm. Here's the link to the steam vac on Amazon

We bought one because it seemed like a necessity with kids and pets. We have put it to good use. It's a Hoover Agility and works very well. You would be disgusted at the color of the water that comes out of the "clean" carpets. We now also have a no-shoes-in-the-house policy. We decided on it based on the great Amazon.com reviews.

I have a Bissell Proheat that I absolutley love!! I also have their Little Green compact cleaner for small jobs.

wow what a difference in your child's ages clearly it must be for the two younger ones I have used a couple different ones borrowed to see what cleans the best I always go back to the Bissell pro heat the more expensive one is best but well worth it... love it finally bought it and now everyone borrows it from me was not impressed with the hoover..
