Looking for Preschools in Valrico

We are moving to Valrico in June and I am looking for an academic preschool for the fall for my 4 year old son. I would prefer a place that only has a preschool and not a day care center combined. Since we do not know anyone in the area, any information would be great!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for all the advice. After careful consideration, we ended up going to Bell Shoals. I really hope my boys like it there.

Both my daughter and niece are getting ready to graduate today from The Peacock's Plume at the corner of Bell Shoals & Bloomingdale. It is a new facility and this will be their first graduation class. I cannot say enough about the staff, their teaching methods, etc. Both of the girls have learned so much and really were excited to go to school each day.

Here is their website...

Ms. Sherry is the owner, Ms. Donna is the director, and Ms. Wanda is the teacher for the 4 year olds.

While they do take children from age 6 weeks and up, they are not like a traditional daycare. The children are always learning...not just being babysat. My whole family will miss the people at Peacocks Plume now that the girls are going to "big kid" school, but we already have my younger niece on the waiting list for her age group and I plan on sending my youngest daughter there when I decide to go back to working outside of the home.

Try A Child's Haven off of Valrico road. Its fabulous and free through the VPK program. Its Gold Seal accredited and Apple Accredited. Even if it cost $500. a month, we would go there. They wear uniforms and do computers and homework.... Its incredible!!!!!

We love Bell Shoals Academy. It has a preschool program as well as an Elementary and Middle School. It has a great curriculum and I have found it to be a very nurturing and safe environment for my children.

Hi! I would recommend 1st Baptist Church Brandon - they have 1st grade down to infants and provide before/after care so both kids could be there the same hours. :-) Also, send me an e-mail if you are interested in a military playgroup. (I am assuming you are military and heading to Macdill? Yes?) By the way, I also have a 6 yr old son, newly 4 yr old son, and a 7 month old.

I was going to put my daughter in Child's Haven but they didn't have an infant program for my youngest. It's a shame because it was our first choice. The director was really great and even sent me a thank you note! Depending on where in Valrico you are, I would also look at Fishhawk Early Learning Centers (there are 2).
