Hi Ladies! I am seriously contemplating putting my daughter in preschool this fall. I have a home daycare but my daughter is going to be 3 in October and is the oldest child I have. She is very active and outgoing so I think she would love going to school and would benefit from being in a more structured environment. I live close to the intersection of Bayside and Diamond Springs, which is close to Shore Drive and Northhampton Blvd. I want a preschool that is going to be fun but still has an academic curriculum. I am open to church based, montessouri, private or any other options you can think of! I haven't decided if we are going to do half day or full time yet. If you know of a great preschool that you would recommend, please let me know! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am not sure how far you want to drive but Christ the King in Norfolk has an excellent school program. Mrs. Catherine and Mrs. Jeanette are the two 3 year old teachers and are wonderful. Mrs. Catherine is a Navy wife and Mrs. Jeanette's husband travels. Both are VERY GOOD with children. The number is ###-###-####. It is located on Tidewater Dr. We have (and have had) children from Suffolk, Portsmouth, VA BCH, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, etc attending CTK. Good Luck with your search.

I actually must live near you, I live between Northampton and Diamond Springs. I send my son to Sunnybrook which is little bit of a drive, in Kings Grant area. If you are looking for some place closer, I have heard good things about Bayside Presbyterian Preschool.

My daughter attends the Montessori Children's House (MCH) in Kempsville. This will be her fourth year there. I teach kindergarten in the public schools and have been completely impressed with her academic success at MCH. She is just starting kindergarten there this fall and is already reading on a first grade level! The curriculum follows the child at his/her own individual pace. She has never been introduced something she wasn't ready to learn. I love it!
Check out their website and call for a tour. They are very personable and the school has always felt like home.
