I'm looking for a good 1/2 day preschool, (christian environment a plus!)in Hampton or close to. My oldest boy went to Smithfield Baptist, we had an excellent experience there, and are looking for a similar program closer to home. My son will be 3 in Feb. and am looking to enroll in Sept. (inless a good opening becomes avaible sooner)

What can I do next?

I don't know if it is as close as you would like, but my daughter goes to Hilton Presbyterian Preschool in Newport News, and we love it. The teachers are wonderful and the whole place is a positive, loving environment. They have a monthly chapel service and do a bible verse. They learn a lot and have so much fun. The registration starts next week. THeir phone number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

K. - I live in Tabb + currently my 4yo + 2yo dd's go to Playtime Learning Center in Poquoson. While not associated with a specific church, they do espouse Christian values (which also includes saying grace before lunch). They began 1/2 days (Tues, Wed + Thurs), but my 4yo loved it so much she asked to go every day. I have heard wonderful things about Bethel Baptist (in York County on Big Bethel Road) + had already put my 2yo on their waiting list for Sept. (I believe its 9-12, M-F) I don't know if we'll be able to take the slot though because the children MUST be toilet trained + my 2yo shows no signs of being ready.

Hi K.,
You might be interested in checking out the Chestnut Memorial Preschool. It is in NN but just over the Hampton border. It is located at 1024 Harpersville Road at the back of the Chestnut Methodist Church.

We heard about Chestnut through the grapevine (They do not advertise, they dont have to, they fill up and have a waiting list every year). They came highly recommended so we went to check them out. I was impressed! This is my sons second year at Chestnut and we are saddened that they do not continue on as a private elementry school! We love it that much. I could go on and on about the school, but I suggest you go and check them out yourself. They welcome walk in parents who want to check the school out. They will give you a little tour, tell you about the school and what the kids do there, and answer any questions you might have. My son goes 1/2 day for 3 days a week and the fee is only 106.00 a month. They have 2 day and 5 day options as well. They do a wonderful job at Chestnut. My son hates to miss a single day. I love all of the ladies at the school! The administrators are extremly nice women and all of the teachers are wonderful. Class size is limited to no more than 12 students. All of the teachers and the administrators know all of the children by name.
