Looking for Great Swimming Lessons near Santa Clara.

I have two preschool age girls who LOVE the water but have never had swim lessons so they cling to Dad or me whilst we're in the pool. We have a pool in our new home and are desperate to have our girls fully enjoy the benefits of the water SAFELY. I'm hoping to find a swim school or semi-private lessons with someone (school) that are genuinely interested in my childrens' needs and my own (near Santa Clara preferable). Any recommendations?

What can I do next?

My kids went to Water Babies in Campbell which was wonderful....but there's also Santa Clara International Swim Center. I have a friend who works there plus many of my friends kids have learned there. It's by the Santa Clara library on Homestead.

Try Maki Swim on El Camino between Scott and San Thomas. Trudy is great! They offer private, semi-private and public lessons. http://www.makiswim.com/

Hello,

I have been a swim teacher for many years and since moving to the CA (originally from Australia)I have mainly been teaching friends kids over the summer. I did work at Santa clara swim centre and they have a fantastic program. I would still be there today but they just don't pay enough. I have taught kids that went to sutton and they have a good program mostly work on legs which is good in the beginning but later on they are not good. I taught a friends kid who went to sutton for many years last summer and my friend was surprised that i moved straight onto arms the first time in the first lesson I did with her. She was 8 years old.

DACA also have a good program. One thing about Santa clara it isn't a good learning environment cause it is a really cold pool. It will be good for the summer but in the Fall the poor kids freeze.

I tell many people try to go and have fun with the kids in the water and go as often as you can. Good Luck.

P.

My children and grandchildren all learned to swim through the YMCA. The instructors are Red Cross certified and work well with kids. I know they have a pool on Quito, not too far from Saratoga Avenue, but they also teach at other locations, so call their main office and ask for more information.

We love DACA (Deanza Cupertino Aquatics). It's right off of 85 at Deanza. They are great with little kids.

My boys wet to AVAC (Almaden valley athletic club). They were great. I use to take my oldest son who was terrified of water when he was a baby in a group session and private. now he loves water.

santa clara parks and recs offer swim classes in the summer. They are a 2 week session and run about 40 dollars a session for residents, a little more for non-residents. My kids go there and take 2 sessions a summer. My oldest did the classes and he has become a very good swimmer. The classes are open for registration now, so you will need to get on that right away. The classes are offered from mid-june to mid-aug. and fill up fast.
