Looking for Good Room Darkening Shades for Son's Br

We have blackout drapes from Bed Bath and Beyond and they do pretty well. The drapes have magnets down the sides so the two or more pieces can be securely connected. We got a double curtain rod so you can't even see them behind my daughter's cute, girly curtains:)

If you are going to order window coverings from online or a shop at home place, I would recommend Budget Blinds (have more than just blinds). They are individually owned so you're dealing with someone that really cares about their end product.

We have Hunter Douglas shades which we ordered on line direct. They work great.

I cannot sleep without blackout shades! I purchased mine from Linens and Things or Bed, Bath and Beyond. They are not pretty--just hung on tension rods--but they are relatively inexpensive and work very well. Perhaps I did not see all of the Hunter Douglass products available. What I did see (and buy) did not block as much light as the products I have recommended here. ( We originally purchased HD accordion shades.)
No matter which product you choose, you should be able to find what you need without much difficulty.

Hi Karen, I ordered my darkening shades through Home Depot. They are wonderful! They completely block out the security spot lights outside my son's windows. HD offers an in-home measuring and installation service. We used them and I'm glad we did. The initial $20 (?) cost is out of pocket, but the cost will be deducted from your purchase once you place the order. We live in an old building, so our windows aren't exactly square. The installers were responsible for reordering the blinds when the first set didn't perfectly fit our windows.

If you're just looking for a quick, inexpensive fix, you can get roll-down shades at Target that work well for not a lot of money. Or, like the other posters said, if you need a special size, Home Depot or Lowes will custom-cut the shade for you. You can install it yourself, it takes about 5 minutes with a drill.

I would call Empire Today. They have great prices and great selections. Plus, you can have them out next day. (I sound like the commercial!!). Or, you can measure yourself and go to homedepot. Good luck.
