Hi Moms,
Does anyone have any recommendations for an easy-to-use inexpensive webcam that works well for sharing your little one with relatives that live in another state? I would like to purchase a webcam for my mother, but need one that is so easy to set up I could help her with it over the phone. :) Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

Logitech is good and easy to use. I used one for a long time until I got this computer and it has one installed on it.

My computer is a Dell and the camera they put on my computer is Logitech as well.

After you get your webcam, you can signup for Skype and talk to them for free!

Mine is Gigaware, from Radio Shack, also about $30. We use AIM (from AOL, but free) to videocon with my fam in NY/MA. We chose AIM 'cuz it works easily with both Mac (which my sister has) and PC (which me and my parents have). If everyone has a PC, you have more choices of programs, but I think they're all pretty easy. Have fun! My 2-yo LOVES talking to Nana and Poppop on the computer (singing songs, showing them her coloring, etc).

Ours is by Microsoft and is super easy and great. After set up, just push a button. We found it on sale so not sure if it would still be that cheap.

We purchased one for my mom this past Christmas. It was a Microsoft and it was very reasonable (on Amazon). It allows her to push one button to pull up MSN Live (new MSN messenger) and she can "call" us and we're all set. We personally have a Logitech webcam (my husband is a big fan), and you can usually find one pretty reasonable as well.

Also, my husband uses his free LogMeIn account to do a remote access to my mom's computer. It's a really easy to use software that you download for free, register your computers, and then access any of them when you are away from home. All you need is for the computer you want to use to be on and internet access. That's how we set up the camera for my mom, and anytime she has questions or gets stuck, we just do a remote access and we solve the problem. I actually used it while I was at my mom's to access my laptop at home because she had dial-up and didn't have MS Office. I ended up doing my homework from across the country, lol!

Logitech used w/ skype. A camera with a wide angle lens is the best!
