Looking for an Affordable Nanny in Northside San Antonio

I am a single mother of four. My oldest daughter is 8 years old, my boy and girl twins will be six and my baby girl is 9 months. I work full time and find it extremely difficult to juggle everything. I would like to hire someone to come to my home and take care of the baby, make sure the older kids do their homework, light housekeeping and cook dinner. Problem is I am on a tight budget and have not had much luck. Most agencies are stating @ $1700 a month. I am looking at more like $12 to $1300 a month.

Hi L.

Try Lonestarnanny.com. It is free to use. I found my son's sitter/nanny at the site. I searched for months to find a sitter and thought I'd just give the site a whirl. You enter what you are looking for in a nanny and the site matches you up with people that meet your profile. It is up to you to negotiate price and interview the people and all that. I wasn't willing to try an agency. I also work at a University, but I only needed a sitter 3 days a week. (Plus, I'm a cheapskate.) It's free to use and you don't have to give out "personal information". The site sends you email when a potential nanny is interested in your position, or you can read profiles of nannies and email them through the site. I thought it was simple to use.

My son starts day care in October and then his sitter would be available.

Also, if you are looking for someone until September, I can also recommend our back up sitter. My son loves her. She was one of my husband's students, she is a recent graduate at Trinity and is planning to go into mission work in the fall. She is looking for a job so that she can gather some savings before she goes off to be trained.

Let me know if you are interested or if there is anything else I can answer.

Good luck,
L.

Hi L.,
I am also in the process of hiring a nanny so I can tell you I have met some very nice capable young ladies who be able to fulfill your job as well (the ones I interviewed and did not hire). If you are interested, please email me direct and I will give you some names and telephone numbers and you can see if any of these young ladies fits your situation.
Take Care and God Bless.

My girlfriend has had success with running an ad in the newspaper being very specific (must drive, no smoking, no other kids) to what she wanted, then she ran a background check. The add cost about $80 and I think the background check around $200. She only pays about $800/mo but she gave her a lot of down time until her recent third baby.
