I have 2 over-weight girls & the Dr. has told me to get them in some activities. So, I'm looking for fun activities like sports or all other things, mostly for my 8 & 10 year olds but I have a 3 & 5 year old too. Wouldn't mind finding things for them to do also.

the neighbor's kids of all ages are on their trampoline almost non-stop. Great exercise and it's in your back yard.

OH! You are sssoooo lucky! You live in Garland. They have an awesome PArks and Rec Department with a lot of different (inexpensive) classes- They can try dance for a month, if they hate it they can move on to something else. White Rock Skate Ceter (On NW Hwy and Ferndale) has a family skate on Sunday afternoons- again, reasonable price and fun way to move. Just all walking aroung the greenbelt is a good place to start (I'm a Pedi RN, we talk a lot about diet and exercise).
The key is making it FUN so they want to continue- not a punishment.
If there is anything else I can do, please feel free to e-mail me.

It's a good thing you have all girls because you can try dance and sports. My husband's youngest cousin was overweight when she was younger and then they started her in Irish Step dance classes and when we saw her a few months later -- she was completely slimmed down. And she loves it so much.

Here's a link to the City of Garland Parks and Rec page that lists dance classes for kids. I see that the Irish Step class has already started but you could probably do a Google search for "Irish Step, Garland" and you can find some schools nearby offering other Irish Step classes, if your girls were interested.
