Hello Again!

We are looking for a new pediatrician. We currently go to Dr. Scott with Grapevine Pediatrics. He's not a bad doctor, but he's just not the one for us. My son needs his 2 yr. shots so I would like him to have them with the new doctor. I would like someone who is gentle and nice and interacts with the children. Dr. Scott might say hi or bye to my little one, but that's about it. He doesn't try to gain his trust or explain what he is going to do to him. My son is very afraid of him and clearly doesn't like him.(not to say he will absolutely LOVE another Dr.) Dr. Scott is also a little rough with him. He holds his mouth shut to blow his nose, he sticks the tongue-depresser far down his throat and very roughly, part of his skin grew back from his circumcision and Dr. Scott literally tried to rip it apart and unsuccessfully!

I know that this is probably normal behavior by the doctor and I don't think he's a bad doctor. I just think that another doctor may be a better fit for our family. I would like to get settled with a new doctor before the next baby comes. We live in Irving so I would really like a doctor in Irving. Any suggestions or advice? The front office staff matters a lot to me too. If they are not nice, I'm not interested.

What can I do next?

Hi J.:

I highly recommend Dr. Carissa Meyer at Medical Center of North Texas in Irving/Las Colinas. She is very gentle (she's a mom herself), patient and attentive. I was very impressed at how much time they spent with my children. The number is ###-###-####.

Hi J.,

I also take my daughter to Medical Clinic of North Texas in Las Colinas/Irving. (it is in the Las Colinas Medical building on MacArthur Blvd) We see Dr. Viktorin. I really like her and so does my 8 month old daughter. She is very gentle and thorough with each appointment. I also like that they send your prescription to the pharmacy (of your choice) while at the visit, so I don't have to drop it off I can just pick it up on the way home.

The staff are very nice too. The office is very child friendly with big exam rooms. GL & HTH

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Steven Smalley with MD Pediatrics of Coppell, Lewisville and Flower Mound. We followed him from Flower Mound Kids Care with our first child, and now he sees both 3 yo daughter and 6 mo old son! He is young, newly wed, energetic and takes his time with you. Does not over prescribe anti-biotics for every sniffle and let's us change up our shot schedule to have only one shot at a time, spacing a week in between each(former public school teacher with too many autistic kids to count - can't be too cautious with vaccines, I think).

He even came to daughter's dedication at our church in Carrollton!! Missed our son's due to illness and sent a card! He will pray with your kids if you request it - if not, he won't ask (Kids Care always asked, that's why we went there and met him).

His principal office is Flower Mound for well checks, right on FM 2499 - easy to get there from Hwy 26 in Grapevine.
www.mdpedi.com for information or ###-###-#### The other docs have been wonderful there, too. I had Dr. Kincaid's son in HS English - she's MD Pediatrics founding doc.
