Looking for a Good Place in Dayton to Get My Son's First Haircut

My son is 11 months old and his hair is getting too long! Does anyone know of a good place for a kid's first haircut? He does not like getting his head wet, but that's kind of required to get it cut! Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for your advice! We ended up going to Cookie Cutters near Springboro. They were great! The lady that cut his hair was really gentle and he got to sit in a toy car and watch Elmo! The only way we could get him to sit still for any length of time was to give him a sucker. He loved that, of course. He looks like a little boy now - not a baby! I guess it had to happen sometime. Maybe people will stop telling me that I have a beautiful little girl! lol Thanks again everyone!

Kiddie Kutz in Centerville on 48 is the place to go. My son LOVES getting his hair cut there. He usually sits in the airplane and watches a Blues Clues video while getting his hair cut. The staff is wonderful with even the squirmiest of children and his hair always looks good after a cut from there.

I take my son to the Cookie Cutters in Settlers Walk in Springboro. We love it there! The hairstylists are super friendly and it is wonderfully kid-oriented. My son even plays video games while he is getting his hair cut! They have super cute chairs (horses, police cars, etc.) and each station has a television where the child can select a video to watch while they are getting their hair cut. When they leave, each child gets a balloon tied to a cookie cutter to take home.

I took my son to Kiddie Kuts.... first his first cut and everyone since. They are great, and have videos, and they can sit in airplanes or on motorcycles to get the cut.
They have two location, one in BeaverCreek, the other by the dayton Mall/ (they recently move to the shopping center in from of Lowes)
Hope this helps.

My son despises getting haircuts and it's always a big deal when we go. Most places weren't able to deal with him and he had a few terrible haircuts because of this. I found a great place to go, Kiddie Kuts. I haven't been there since they have moved, so hopefully they did not change their number. This is the number they had when they were located in Centerville ###-###-####. Now they are across the street from the Dayton South Cinemas and Home Depot on 741 in Miamisburg.

Kiddie Kuts is the only place to go that I have ever found. They are no longer in Centerville on 48, they just moved to 741 next to HH Gregg. The owner is really friendly, I recommend asking for her - Melina - and trying to schedule with her every time. My mistake was just popping in when he needed a cut. They seemed to have a turnover of stylists there for a while, so you never knew who or what you were going to get. They are keeping logs on computer now, so it seems much more organized than in the past. They have the children watch a movie of their choice (all sorts of choices) and have such a kid-friendly environment that your son won't want to leave! That's are only problem when we go now!

Hi E.,

We take our kids to a barber that we've known for years but there is a place my friends take their kids. Its called "Kidz Kutz" (I think thats how its spelled)...in Centerville off of 48. They are for kids only and so the environment is for kids....cool chairs and such for them. Might go see and what its like?

Good luck!

There is a new place that just opened near the dayton mall, it is called Kiddie Cuts (im pretty sure thats what it is).
I have not been there but they "specialize" in cutting childrens hair, and that is all that they do.
It is located on Springboro Pike (741) near the Cricket location. if you need specific directions let me know.

We use the kiddy kuts in Beavercreek - it is on N. Fairfield Rd., just north of Dayton-Xenia. They just use a small spray bottle to dampen the hair. He can sit on a police car or a horsey and watch a favorite show. There are regular chairs too. My DS has had good days and bad days there, but they are always able to get the job done. Another trick if he does not sit still - give him a sucker while they are cutting his hair. He will be so interested in the sucker, that he will forget about the haircut.

Oh - call ahead and make an appointment to shorten the wait.
