Congratulations on your choice for a home birth! I think you have made a great decision. I had an exceptionally long, difficult labor, but I still plan to do it the same way again. If you have any questions or if I can help at all, feel free to let me know. My advice, have a birthing tub. Even if you don't deliver in it. It made a WORLD of difference to me during labor. Made it much easier to take. Even if you think you won't use it, I would still have it available just in case. You won't know what you want until you get there. And if you don't use it, oh well, at least you had the option.

I used Molly Germash from Family Birth Services in Grand Prairie. She now has her own birthing center in Weatherford as well as working from Family Birth Services. Lisa Thomas assisted at my birth and is now working for Family Birth Services. I have a friend who has used Ginger Holmes Kynion for four home births (that I attended). I would recommend any of them. http://www.midwifewithoutborders.com/ Gail Johnson
and http://www.maternityservices.com/ Bonnie Kitchen

I had my third at home in 2002 with both of them. It looks like they may have their own private practices now, but they are both wonderful and bring different things to the table. My third was my longest and hardest labor and they were wonderful!!! I chose them first because of Gail. She is very straight forward and takes an active role in your labor. Bonnie is more nurturing and takes a back seat. My sister-in-law also used Gail and had a wonderful experience.

Hi K.,
I am so glad you decided to have a home birth. In my opinion you will be both rewarded and blessed for your decision.
I had a home birth last December, and it was perfect and fast. I used Ann Crowell as my midwife and Dr. Cindy Haggerton was my chiropractor (She is also a Doula).
Ann was wonderful. She has delivered more than 1000 babies, and her expertise and knowledge are only accentuated by her fun and cheery personality. Here is a website with some of her information:

I also recommend using Dr. Cindy Haggerton from Lifetime Family Wellness as your Chiropractor. She specializes in and loves pregnant women. I felt so amazing during my pregnancy. I had none of the awful aches and pains that you hear other pregnant women talking about. I also had a very fast and short labor. Here is their website:

In my opinion, these two ladies are a powerhouse for the home birth experience. They are also in the same offices in Hurst, making it very convenient for you to only have to make the trip once.

Please feel free to send me a personal message for more details or information. I had the best birth possible, and I want other moms to have the same. It is the best start in your relationship with your baby.

There is a homebirth group on yahoogroups that is for the DFW area. They would provide lots of information and support for you. It is called the HAND group.

I was supposed to have a home waterbirth but my labor progressed too fast and I was home alone. I ended up with a natural birth in the hospital via an ambulance ride. My midwife was too far away.

I have used Jean Sala with both of my children, the second born at home. Her number is ###-###-####, and I have also heard great things about Ann Crowley.
