Looking for a Good Church in Algonquin or Vicinity

I am looking for a new church to attend. Would like it to be fairly close and contempory. I would like it to not be too overwhelming and have a good kids program. I know a lot of people like Willow Creek, but the size of it scares me :) Thanks.

What can I do next?

We live in Huntley and go to Faith Community Church. We absolutely love it. It's very laid-back with a come as you are environment and very friendly people. Services are held at 5pm on Saturdays and 9:00 & 10:30 on Sunday mornings. Sunday school is available during all services, as is a nursery if you have littler ones. It is located off of Algonquin road, at the intersection of Algonquin and Haligus (across Haligus from Centegra). If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer to the best of my ability! Good luck in your search!

Springbrook Community on Algonquin Rd, west side of Algonquin, technically Huntley. We really liked it when we lived in Algonquin and would have stayed there if we hadn't moved. Everyone's nice and they have a lot going on. Contemporary, too.

I go to Light of Christ in Algonquin, too :) it is everything wonderful Loving M mentioned below! It's located off Hanson Rd just south of Algonquin Rd and many people refer to it as the church on the hill. Blessings!

Light of Christ is in Algonquin and sounds perfect for you. It's very family oriented and they have lots of children's ministries/programs. It's the 7th largest Lutheran church in IL, so you won't have a small congreation whispering about who the new folks are, but it's not so big like Willow Creek where you get lost.

Light of Christ has both contemporary and traditional services and blended as well. They have a "come as you are" philosophy, so you will see a mix of people who like to dress up for church, and a mix of people who come in their jeans with their coffee in hand (that would be me). It's been our family church since we moved to Algonquin in the mid-90s.

Hope you give it a try.

Willow Creek has a satellite campus Crystal Lake. Definitely smaller :)
Also Christ Community in Elgin.

I live in Lake in the Hills and go to Church of the Cross in Hoffman Estates - when I joined we lived just a few miles from the church but after moving I didn't want to leave the church family I knew and leaned on! The congregation is approximately 180 - so not a huge church by any means. If you want more specifics PM me. (oh, it's presbyterian in case you are wondering about denomination).
