Hi, I am meeting a friend next week for a playdate. My son is 13 months & her daughter is 16 months. She lives south of town (Beavercreek/Beelbrook) & I live north of town (Dayton/Riverside). We'd like to meet in the middle if we could. Any ideas for where we could go & what we could do? Walking around the mall is hardly fun for the kids, we were hoping to find something hands on for them. But not a McDonalds playworld......

What can I do next?

I have to second the Boonshoft museum. We buy family passes every year and we all enjoy going including my 12 month old!

There is a gymnastic place in Beavercreek called Gymquest that has open gym from 12 - 3 weekdays and 12-1:30 on Saturday. It is great for small children. Large preschool area. It is $8. Other gymnastic places might offer this too.

While it isn't quite in the middle, the Boonshoft museum in Dayton is a great place for children that age. There's a little play place for children under 2 there.

A lot of the metroparks have visitor's centers with hands on stuff for kids to do, and they're FREE! My daughter loves the one at Carriage Hill. They have a miniature farmhouse with a toy stove and dishes, etc. and a giant stuffed cow that she loves to sit on.
