Ok ladies so here's the deal. My 29 month old is 35 pounds and 41 inches tall. He's currently in a Britax carseat that he is almost too tall for. I was hoping to get some recommendations on which boosters you all like the best. Ideally I would love to have a booster with a 5 point harness that will hold him as long as possible. Any thoughts?
Thanks everyone for your recommendations. We bought my son the Britax Regent today (he was in the Britax Roundabout- the one with a 40 pound weight limit). It is a bit bigger than the Roundabout (fortunately it fits in the SUV), but I love that it has a 5 point harness and goes up to 80 pounds. Thanks again everyone!!
We switched to the evenflo generations recently. My daughter is 37 lbs. so we use the 5 pt. harness still, but i am glad we got it b/c the britax carseat we had before was SO small for her. I didn't quite notice until we moved her and she had so much more room. I agree that Britax is top of the line, but is very expensive. We have been very happy with it, and my daughter has too.

I now have 4 boys and we prefer the Alpa Omega. It is a car seat that goes from 5 months rear facing all the way to 80lbs forward facing. It also has the 5 point harness and the harness is adjustable with a single lever on the back of the seat. Once he is too big for the harness you can remove the straps and it becomes a booster. I purchased all of my Alpha Omega at www.babiesrus.com. They are not cheap but they are the best I've found.

At his age he is MUCH too young for a belt positioning booster. Assuming you go w/ a seat seat that converts to a 5-pt harness to a bpb that has a higher weight limit than the standard 40 pounds, chances are he'll outgrow it in height very soon.
The only seat I would recommend for his age and size is a Britax Regent. They are spendy, but worth it.
I did much research last year for 5 point for older kids. The only one that was reasonable was the Britax Marathon. If I'm not mistaken it can be used until the child is 100lb.
K., what model britax do you have? i just got the regent for my 28 month old daughter and it fits her beautifully. she is not as tall as your son but she is about as heavy. we had been cramming her into my son's old evenflo until i couldn't take it anymore. we got the britax regent about 3 weeks ago and it has made all the difference for all of us. she doesn't fight anymore!

I've got a big boy, he's 3 and weighs 58 pounds and well over 3 1/2 ft. I bought a Britax Regent. It's a 5 point harness but is big enough to be considered a bucket seat and very sturdy. I love Britax!! When we went to the TTI for a proper fitting about a year ago we discussed the exact same problem with them and at that time Britax just came out with the Regent.
I picked one up at Wal-Mart for about 50. The base pulls out so it reclines, has a snack holder on one side and the drink holder on the other -I used as a 5 point until my son outgrew it, then as a booster, then put it back to a 5 point for my younger child, and bought my son a cheaper booster to use until he meets the age height weight guidelines to go without.
If you are in or near Corpus Christi call the Driscoll Children's Hospital Injury Prevention Department. They are the safety people and have the research on Car-seats. They will be able to tell you which ones are safest and worth the money. If you're close, then you can actually go by and they'll help you install it and check you son's position when he's in it.
