Hi. Does anyone know of a good and fairly inexpensive place I could have my 4 year old son's birthday party. I live in Plainfield.

Thanks

I just booked a party for my 5 year old at Eola Community Center. It is a gymnastics party...they do 1 hour of gymnastics, and then you get a room for an hour for cake, craft, etc. $12 per kid, which seems steep, but a lot of parties start at $20 or more per kid. I think Build-a-Bear might be $10 per kid? Also, Enchanted Castle does a good job. They let you do your own "extras" like cake, etc. that helps with the final cost. Good luck!

It depends on what your looking for. Jumping and playing in an arcade is fun but a little more expensive (and sometimes crazy). My son is 3 but for his birthday I had a pizza themed party. Vita Bella on Rt. 59 (ask for Mike) will take each child (groups of 3) in the kitchen and make their own pizzas. While the others are in the kitchen the rest made construction paper pizzas. Mike gave me the take home pizza slice boxes and I used them as party favor containers. There is a party store on 59 next to kohls (I think) that has pizza/food candy that I put in the box along with stickers etc. I did decide to have the party at our house and just order pizzas because of a time conflict of one of our guests but Mike was willing to do the party in the restuarant. I had a book called Pete's A Pizza by William Steig and I read it to the kids. There is also a DVD. I also know there is a Curious George and the Pizza Man book. I gave each child a book. (If there were more than one children from one family I gave them each a different book.) For desert we made cookie-pizza's. They were instead of cake for the kids but they were very very sweet! You make sugar cookies (crust) red colored frosting (sauce) and shred white chocolate for the cheese. Lastly, we used m&m's for meatballs etc. I was mean enough to parents to make them act out the book by pretending to make their children into pizza's as I read the book but that really depends on the crowd you have. I hope that helps. It really wasn't that expensive.

My daughter who is now 5 had her 4th birthday party at Chuckee Cheese and it was absolutely perfect! I had 11 kids plus appetizers and pop for adults and it cost me under $150.00 (including tip) without having to do anything!! They serve a small cake which is included. I made my own party bags and brought cupcakes for the kids which at that age are perfect. They also allow you to use the newspaper coupons to purchase extra pizzas for the adults which is how I saved even more. The person assigned to the party organizes everything and even dance and sing with the kids. You can go online and reserve a party or just check out their price list. We had her party early on a Sunday to avoid the crowds. Good luck with this, I cannot tell you how much the kids loved it and I was relieved not to have to worry about a thing. P.S. They serve beer for the manly men who wouldn't usually be caught dead in there!

JumpZone
Animal Farms around town - the one I can think of is in Palos but I am sure there are others.
Park pavillion
McD's

Good luck

We had our 4 yr olds birthday party at Time Machine. He enjoyed it and the kids had fun. They had pizza, and let them play video games... they did the cake and it was a pretty nice time. It wasn't horribly expensive.. but it depends on the number of kids you have... It's right near 127th and Rt. 59.

There's another place called like Bouncy town, but I haven't gone there.. it sounded like fun (indoor inflatibles).
