I am pregnant with my second baby (in my 1st trimester when energy is low to begin with), and chasing a toddler in the evenings after working full-time days. Needless to say, my energy levels are LOW!!!! Does anyone have any advice on how to beat this fatigue?

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Katheryn,

Do you get a break fr lunch? I used to work full-time when I was carrying my 2nd and I was exhausted too! I was one who often worked through lunch or entertained clients for lunch and I just kinda shifted my schedule. I didn't schedule any client lunch meetings and brought my lunch so that I could eat it later in the afternoon. Then I'd take my cell phone out to my car, park in a remote corner of the parking lot, set the alarm clock on my phone and nap for 30-45 minutes. It really helped me get through my evenings with the kids.

Best of luck!!!

I'm pregnant with my third, and am a single mother of 2 preschools, who also works full time. I can fully relate to how you're feeling!! I started taking a B-complex vitamin and a fish oil vitamin in addition to my prenatel vitamins and it's helped some. Obviously I'm still tired, but at least now I can get through the day...at least until the other two go to bed. Best of luck to you!

Taking a nap every chance you get will help a lot! Not eating/drinking a lot of sugar could help as well. Are you taking vitamins? Have you had your iron level checked? Does your job require a lot of your energy?
At this point help from family members will definitely benefit you. Try to work out a schedule with other family members to sit with your other child while you take a nap. I hope this helps. I know every pregnancy is different because I was hardly ever tired with my 1st child but the 2nd one I was absolutely exausted all the time. I wish you the best.

Hi Katheryn,

I am in my second trimester and still don't have my energy back so I can relate to how you are feeling. Unfortunately, I think it is just a side effect of pregnany. My best advice that I can give you is to listen to your body and rest as much as you can. I have yet to find a way to beat the fatigue and I am on my third! If you find a way that works, please pass it on to me! I believe that it is natures way of telling you to rest before the baby comes. I have found that to be very difficult to do chasing my little ones, also. Good luck, and congratulations!

Katheryn, I am in the same boat as you. I am preggers with #3 and am starting my 2nd trimester on sat. My energy levels are really low this time. I don't ever remember being this tired with the other 2. I usually try to lie down whenever I can even if it's only for 15 minutes. I know this can be hard when you are working and chasing after a little one, but try to find the time. I also have been going to bed around 9 pm when before I was preg I was going to bed at 1-2 am. This also seems to help. I literally have no energy to do any chores around the house, and am finding that I have to force myself to get things going, but this will soon pass......just keep strong and God Bless you and your growing family:)

I know what you mean. I have 3 kids when I was pregnant with my last child. I was working full-time plus taking care of a 6 y/o and a 2y/o. What I did was just blocked them off in an area with toys and laid on the couch and rested when we got home. It helps but it gives you a little more than you pushing yourself.

Try Kombucha. I get mine from Wild Oats. The fruit flavored kind is called Synergy. It gives me a ton of energy. It is full of B vitamins, Amino Acids, and Probiotics.

Also, have a cup of Chamomile tea and take a nap whenever you have the opportunity. Exercise also helps boost your energy level. Try a prenatal yoga class.

Oh man, I feel for ya Katheryn! I am pregnant with baby #3, just started my 2nd trimester 2 days ago, and feel tired all the time. It is soo hard to take care of my 2 little boys all day and all night. By bedtime I am begging my husband to take over and let me go to bed at 8pm! The only thing I can do is go to bed when they go to bed. Hopefully your toddler goes to bed early too so you can get some sleep! I used to feel guilty for not spending much time with my husband at night but I know that this won't last forever and it's something I just have to do at the moment. He understands...I think!
