Kind of a Nasty Question but I Am Worried.

I am 3 months pregnant with baby number 2, I haven't been able to eat well since I basically throw up most meals I eat. to day I managed to eat two turkey and cheese sandwiches which are fine and do nothing to me. I have lost almost 25lbs since being pregnant again. Now tonight I have diarrhea, so far it's only once, and I was wondering if I should call my doctor in the morning or not? The only time I had diarrhea with my son was the day before I went into labor, the doctors told me it was my body getting ready for the labor and delivery. Just need some advice.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I will call my doctor in the morning. Thank all you moms for being concerned it makes me feel good I have you guys watching out. You see I can't call them now only because I live in South Korea and I have to see a doctor off base. My doctor speaks very good english but I don't think he is in right now, no matter any doctor can do it, but I have to also call the translator who works at the front desk. I will call first thing in the morning.

If you are ever worried, call the doc. My bowels were back and forth all pregnancy. Probiotics helped. But, since you have lost soooo much weight in such a short amount of time, a doc visit seems called for.

Yes...call your doctor. I was regularly sick during my first trimester and lost 20 pounds, but I had it to lose and never became dehydrated.

Getting dehydrated will make nausea worse.

It might just be a stomach bug, but they can give you something to help the problems.

Do you eat turkey a lot? Is it a lunchmeat type of turkey? Do you heat it before you eat it? I'd mention it to your doctor so they can consider listeria poisoning.

I would not worry so much aout it being a prelabor sign, I think you need to call b/c you need some nurishment and can get dehydrated very easily. My friend gets SO sick when she is prego. Both vomiting and diarrhea that she is on IV nutrition for the 1st 4 months of her pregnacies. SHe has had 4 babies and plans on having more.

Call your doctor, and try to relax, whatever you can eat or drink and keep down do it.

Hi,

I was sick a lot with my first son and now again with my second baby. I find that drinking ensures helps so much. They even take away some of the vomiting. I would still ask your doctor's opinion because you can never be to careful when it comes to your children and pregnancy but it sounds normal. Every pregnancy is different.

Good Luck and I hope you feel better

I do not think the diarrhea has anything to do with a prelabor sign. Yes going to the bathroom frequently is a sign when women are term, but not a premature labor sign. The "diarrhea" that women have before labor comes from the baby decending down into the birth canal and the big baby and the baby's head pressing on your intestine then onto your colon and rectum. Not the case at 3 months pregnant. If you find yourself with "diarrhea" it is probably due to a bug that you have caught and just need to work it's course. If it is not happening again and you have no other symptoms; chalk it up to your system responding to not eating over time and is giving you a "shock" responds. So I think you need to wait and see if it happens again. If it does, just monitor it. See if you can tolerate some rice. Also dry boiling the rice and drinking a bit of th water off before it is totally absorbed. If you have lost that kind of weight from hyperemisis what are your doctors saying and doing. I am actually more concerned about that than "diarrhea". Do they have you on medication to stop the n/v? I do not know your weight, but I think a doctor should be VERY concerned. It does sound as if you are turning the corner, but right now you can not afford to get sick from a flu bug.

I wouldn't worry on the weight issue I lost a totl of 35 lbs with my son not as much with my second & my third I ended up gaing like 5 lbs at the last few weeks of pregnancy.
Try to eat & drink what you like for now...If it continues call your DR. or ask questions @ your next appt.

Oh hon I am sorry that you are going through it!! You must have a little pistol in there:) Just wanted to say that my SIL lost about 25 lbs from 0-4months prego. I had never seen her so thin! She delivered a beautiful, healthy baby girl 4 months ago, and she did gain weight the last months of her pregnancy. But I will say watch your liquid intake a lot. She was dealing with all this and then ended up in the hospital for dehydration, so take care as you are losing so much fluid. I think you should give the dr a call because you are dealing with a lot and medical advice is warranted when a mama is so sick. You never know they may want to see you and check it you need and IV for fluid etc, better safe than sorry...so yeah I say give them a call. And hang in there!!!! It's so rough I know, but you will make it:)

I agree.......if you can't keep anything down, call the doctor now.......you might try 7 up or even diet 7 up.....water, anything, but it sounds like you need to get in to see the doctor.....losing a bit of weight is fine, but not 25 pounds!!

Go to the doctor.....good luck and let us know what they say....

Take care of yourself.....

you need to call your dr NOW - dehydration can be VERY VERY dangerous for a pregnant woman and her baby - if you are that sick and losing that much weight, you prob need to get in for some IV fluids NOW. good luck, been there - it's no fun.

I would definitely call your doctor in the morning if you have a concern. Better to have piece or mind than to wander. Once you get to your second trimaster if your sickness goes away awesome if not I got real good at it. I was sick through my whole pregnancy bc a muscle in my asophagus wouldn't close so when food was digesting the process would cause it to push upward. I found that if I ate half of my meal then waited for it to come up then ate the other half, it would stay down. Lots of lemon water also helped. Hopefully yours will pass.

My friend had something called Hyperemesis (basically, excessive vomiting). It is very serious and requires IV treatment. Call your dr. right away and get some help.

I wonder if you caught some kind of bug. Defintely go see the doctor. To help ease the symptoms, try dicing up some ginger root and let it steep in boiling water for 5 minutes to make ginger tea.

I hope you feel better soon and that the rest of your pregnancy is relatively smooth sailing.

Lots of little meals would be best, and sipping Pedialyte (or Gatorade) to get you through the diarrhea, keep you hydrated and keep your electrolytes balanced.
