JFF: What Would You like to Learn?

This discussion of what classes a child should take, made me think how modern kids have opportunities to learn lots of different things. My high school was pretty much journalism staff (which I was on), yearbook, cheerleaders and football. Our son's high school offers 30 different types of clubs, and if you have an interest, you just form one. So, what would you like to learn?

What can I do next?

If I could have stayed in school as a career, I would have, lol. I would just love to take college class after college class learning about everything from astronomy to ancient sumarians to ceramics to languages. I'm a geek :)

I would like to become fluent in a second language and I would like to learn the piano. These are both things my kids can do, but I can't!

I want to learn more about sauces - the basic ones and the more complicated ones. I make an excellent marinara, white sauce, brown gravy, etc., but when I watch the cooking shows they always keep talking about a beurre blanc and different types of more elaborate sauces, and they just whip them up without a recipe. I'd like to become comfortable making more sauces. I love cooking!

Every year I try to learn something new every year. This year it's painting on canvas and next year will be playing the tenor saxophone. My husband is a musician. He plays guitar, drums, keyboard but not any wind instruments.

i have leanred to do alot.. but i would like to learn more about that stuff. i can sew but have only done 2 patterns so learning the ins and outs to be good at it would be fun. i learned piano as a kid but forgot how to play when i stopped taking lessons, so don't know much past level 3 and would love to learn more about that. i took a second language in highschool but not past that so learning more of that language so i could actually use it would be nice too.

if i had to pick something that i have never done before i would love to learn how to sheer a sheep and turn that wool into yarn for crocheting (if i owned cheep i would have my hobby paid for... making that another one to add to the cheapest thing i want to do thread)

I wish I could sew. I've tried to teach myself, but I am neither a good teacher nor a good student. I also would like to learn Spanish. Maybe I should go ahead and give that one a try...

I sometimes do this at the community college. They have great adult ed. Not too long ago I took a landscaping class. I'd also like take some kind of art class - maybe sculpture. Learning conversational Spanish is also on my list.

I wish I had learned to swim. I thought about taking lessons but I have trust issues so I don't think it would work for me.
