JFF: Do You Use Your Computer or Tablet w/The Volume on or Off?

Here's a totally mindless JFF....

Me: I have the volume off all the time when I am on the computer or my Nook or the family iPad. Even with my cell phone, I have the ringer off. I only leave it on "vibrate."
I don't like having the volume on. I don't want to hear the "beep" or ring that I got an e-mail or not or when I get a phone call. I don't even like getting phone calls. LOL
It is so, interrupting.
My Husband jokes that I would be a great recluse.

And when/if I am playing games, I also don't turn on the volume.
Its just a bit irksome and makes things too anticipatory and stressful when playing games.

But, if listening to music, sure, I have the volume on then. Cranking it.

*ETA:
I don't really watch shows on my computer. I have no attention span for it. Nor the patience. Its like torture if I have to watch an entire show at one sitting. But I don't mind, if I am home alone. My weirdness per attention span.
My Husband kids me about that too.
I don't like watching shows/movies on the computer/tablet etc.
Though I have done it.
I rather watch a show, on the tv. But I seldom do that either.
I only have a couple of shows I do DVR and watch later.
But with computers/tablets/cell phones, no volume on. Unless it is something I want to watch/see/hear if I have time.
I tends to think I have attention problems. And I know I am noise sensitive. But I have kids!
LMAO

What about you?

I leave the volume off too on my computer and on my iPhone. I cuss myself now and then when I cant find my phone tho and I cant hear it ring. Listening for the "vibrate" is a lot harder :)

Volume on, unless I'm watching something which might not be appropriate for my son to hear (usually stuff on the "Happy Place" site) then the volume goes off. Rarely watch anything on here otherwise, except when I was catching up on Downton Abbey. Pathetic how I love that stuff enough to watch it on a 4"x6" box on my screen.

I am not super-attached to my cell phone, so it's either on LOUD and always on vibrate. Just depends on where I am. I'm pretty conscientious about lowering the volume when it seems appropriate. It's a 'dumb' phone (I only use it for calls, no texting/internet) so no worries about game noises.

Computer volume is always zero.
Phone, I keep it on so I don't miss calls---because when I leave the house, I will not remember to go change the volume setting... so I just leave it up. No one calls me at indecent hours on it, so not a big deal.
Ipad I use with the volume off. Unless I am at the gym and watching netflix. Then I use my earbuds and have the volume at a comfortable level. Or I might read and listen to music while on a stationary bike or something.
I tend to not just have background music for the sake of background music on. Same thing with games.
The only game I ever turn the volume on is bejeweled... and I haven't played that in ages.

Usually I have the sound on. I have a number of music projects, and of course they require sound.

But I know where the OFF button is, and I use it! Peace and quiet can be a wonderful thing.

I watch television on the television, not the computer, and I decide whether I want the sound on or not. Sometimes I prefer to watch a show with the closed captioning instead. I always prefer to have the sound off for commercials. (And if you ever want to know what companies put in their commercials, try watching them with the sound off.)

Usually off, unless I am on for work and want to hear the notifications.

Cell phone on unless I'm somewhere it shouldn't be on. Then usually on vibrate b/c if I'm out alone, chances are, DD is with someone else.

I have the volume on, loud, but I have this silly screen saver that keeps squawking at me like a seagull and I really should do something about it.

For websites usually sound off on the computer because of ads, for games I want to play I have the volume on, I play real games not just flash games. Tablet I have volume on, phone I have volume on.

I am like you - all volume settings are on mute or vibrate. I carry my cell phone to make calls not answer them. Everyone knows this so when they want to reach me, they call my husband instead. I hate phones. I even hate calling for take out. My husband calls it in and I pick it up.

I leave volume on my laptop because I do all myvQuickbooks and financials for our company on QB. The QB system has a specific " beep"!which recognizes the transaction, etc and I use that along with paper confirmation that my transaction is complete.

Cell phone stays on vibrate or DND because I don't want the intrusion.

Games... On vibrate for same reason. I don't want to hear it.

Hope that sheds light on your question!!

Always off - all the ads online are very intrusive with the volume on. At least if it's off, you can ignore all the advertising videos.

Always off, I'm super noise sensitive, one of my fibromyalgia symptoms. But I can stand music, just not blaring.

My little guy is the opposite, he loves sounds, so when he's been using the Kindle or computer I'm always startled when I go to use it and I hear it start up, lol :)

I keep both on vibrate all the time. The vibrate is enough to let me know something is going on, and I don't have to hear the irritating "cha-ching" when I collect money on my games. ; )

If your husband thinks you're weird, he'd think I'm weird too. Fortunately this won't keep me up at night! Ha ha.

Usually on because I have some TV show on Hulu going on one side of the screen while I'm doing whatever else on the other side. But just in the past couple of days, if I have a Facebook window open, I'll get a little noise every time there is a notification. Annoying!

Always on vibrate or silent. I can't stand when my husband and I are in the same room and he's on iPhone watching a movie or playing a game because he always has to have the volume super loud. I get so irritated and the worst part about it is, he's not only like this with his phone but also when we're watching something on tv. If I'm watching tv by myself I put it but just to where I can clearly hear what is being said (sometime I cc), my husband on the other hand has to have it at max high. Just like you I can't watch an entire movie or show at one sitting, I am either up and down or I am doing a million other things.
I also hate phone calls. Funny thing is that before I became a mom noise didn't bother me (I would watch tv full blast, and my phone was always on high volume) now it almost seems like I'm paranoid when I can't hear every single thing going on within my home. It's weird, is this a condition?

My computer volume is always up (because its rarely used anymore). My tablet however always has the volume muted (unless DS gets ahold of it!). I take that to work so that I can relax and play games. However I work in a call center so having volume up is bad.
