JFF - Coffee "High"

Any other moms out there cherish their morning coffee?? Well I do! I've, always enjoyed coffee but can really appreciate it now that I have kids and it has been a part of my morning routine since they have been born. When my "alarm" (i.e. my kids) goes off in the morning I stagger into my kids room and help them out of bed and downstairs. On goes the t.v. for a little Curious George and then I'm off to the kitchen to get kids o.j. and me some coffee. I cuddle up with my love bugs as we watch George and sip my coffee.... ahhhhhh. By the time our show is over I can feel the coffee "kick in"! Yahooo... now I'm really awake and can feel the motivation to get the kids dressed, fed, and figure out our plan for the day. Seriously, what would I do without that one magical cup of coffee! It not only wakes me up but puts me in a good mood!

So do you have similar routine or love for that wonderful cup 'o joe! :) I'd love to hear them!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm so impressed by all the moms that get up before the kids to get coffee, shower, catch the news, etc. I wish I could muster up the strength to do that! (Or get up super early to go to the gym..... I've always envied woman who can do that too!) I love tea too ladies, however I'm an herbal tea drinker and don't drink it for the caffeine (typically there isn't caffeine in herbal teas though). And I tend to drink it in the winter :) Lastly, Scarlett, a day doesn't go by that I don't realize how fortunate I am to be able to stay home (and drink my coffee!) wtih my kids. While its tough financially, I wouldn't change a anything for the world :) Hope all you moms - working or SAH - have a great weekend!!

My routine consists of helping hubby get three kids ready and rushing out the door to get to work on time, and running through Starbucks drive thru is a MUST before pulling into my parking spot at work! I am on a Starbucks high for the duration of the morning. It is how I smile at work!!!

I so envy those moms who get to cuddle with their babies in the morning instead of rushing off to another world. Please don't ever underestimate how fortunate you are!

I have four kids and mornings are my favorite time. I get up at 4, have a cup of chammomile tea then start a pot of coffee (also my favorite morning routine). I have always said that the hardest thing to give up when I am pregnant is coffee.

Once I get my coffee, I check email, start a load of laundry, do some work and just plain enjoy a bit of peace and quite. By 6:30 I get my babies up and we all enjoy a bit of time together before starting the morning routine of getting ready for the day.

I just love it, by the time we are all sitting there for breakfast, we are smiling, telling stories and laughing. Nothin' better than the beginning of the day.

Yes - must have my morning coffee...

One day I forgot my mug on the counter and so i just HAD to stop and get a cup. Of course I had not cash on me so I was digging thru the car for pennies - thankfully I found all 100 of them for my $1 coffee that day. hehe.

I could have written this. Curious George is an every morning activity for us. I drink my coffee with peppermint mocha creamer and wait for that to kick in.

I think that's why coffee was invented, right? To help Mom's make it thru the morning routine.

I actually get up 20-30 minutes early so I can get my cup of coffee and go back to bed. Watch the news for a couple minutes and then usually finish whatever show I fell asleep watching the nite before. Like S. said, then the coffee has kicked in and I can get myself and the kids ready and out the door.

I get the coffee ready the night before, and when my alarm goes off, I take 5 minutes to start it in the morning while the kiddos start waking up. I love that first cup, it's like 'oh yeah, here we go, bring on the day'...

And while I'm trying to quit, sitting on the porch with my computer, my coffee, and having a cigarette while listening to the kiddos get a few minutes of playtime in together before the girls leave for school... priceless.. it's serendipitous. Really. I'll miss that once I've kicked the habit 100%, but I'll still sit on the porch for those 5 minutes and cherish the moment anyway!!

I just tried a new loose leaf tea this morning - Earl of Grey from The Tea Spot.
It's wonderful!
But I've got to tell you, the caffeine kick from it has got me more buzzed than any cup of coffee I've had for awhile.
Definitely a great tea for first thing in the morning!
I'm not going to be able to sit still for awhile.

We drink coffee or espresso every day. When my husband and I get up for work, we get ready, then meet in the kitchen at 8 am to make lattes or coffee. He usually pulls the shots and I steam milk, or one of us makes a pot of coffee and the other gets lunch together. Then we chat together for a second while we take notes on taste/flavor, especially if we're trying a new coffee (we are very dedicated hobbyists), and head out the door to work.
