Jada Vs. Jalynn....opinions Please!

Hi! We had settled on the name Jada (Jay-duh) until recently got the suggestion for the name Jalynn (Jay-Lynn).

We really like both names but are at a roadblock! I have a 3 yr old son Jaden if that helps your decision. Any opinions are appreciated! Thanks!

I have a granddaughter named Jayelin (pronounced the same), I'd recommend a more traditional spelling, it took me forever to remember it. So I'm prejudiced to that name, but I want to offer my opinion on the rhyming names. I grew up with a brother named Larry (I'm T.) and I have grandkids who's names sound similar, it's very hard to get the attention of one when they both sound so similar. They kind of get immune to hearing the name called and mom's have to resort to first and middle names.
Also if you have another child they might feel different not having a rhyming name (I have a brother Steve, born 8 years after us, he used to want to be called a rhyming name too). I've heard a lot of Jalynn's since having one in the family if you are trying for an unusual name.

I love the name Jalynn, I personally think that Jaden and Jada are too much alike. And I would be afraid everone would be calling her Jada with short a's or would make fun of the DUH!

Jalynn. I have a friend whose daughter's name is Kaylyn. I like unique names. (Guess I get that from my parents) My daughter's name is Kaila. Only trouble is, if you like items preprinted with the name, you will never find it printed like yours!

Hi, K.! My humble opinion is that they are both too similar to Jaden. How about a different J name? Jocelyn? Joelle? Jillian? Julia? If you are set on one of these two, I think I'd venture to Jalynn.

Jalynn might be easier to distinguish from Jaden than Jada when you are calling them to come in from playing outside :) Pretty names.

Hi K.,
Best of luck with your new daughter! I named my daughters Lisa and Becca and was forever calling them BLisa or LaBecca because I would start to call one and it was the other I meant to call, so it doesn't really matter if the names are similar or not. My youngest will sign cards and emails to me as LaBecca LOL, she'll never let me live it down...anyway, back to the question at hand...as usual I have a new perspective. How about Jazlyn?? That is granddaughter's name and I call her Jaz. I disliked it when my daughter announced that was the name they chose and I suggested many alternatives, which obviously were disregarded...(I wasn't very good at the reverse pyschology thing haha) anyway I love the name now and she gets so many commpliments...I just thought since it was similar to your two choices I would throw another one into the mix. Blessings!

How about Jayla or Jaylee. My daughter has an unusual first name also, just be careful because of initials or nicknames. My daughter's is D. R. Y. But that is better than mine; when I was Y. my initials were V.D., as were my mother's, and older sister's. My middle sister's initials were L. D. (learning disabled) You have to be able to laugh at yourself though. good luck.

Both names are cute - but take it from me, if your son is Jaden, you will spend the rest of your life calling them the wrong name no matter which one you choose. My children are Emily and Adam and I found myself calling them by the wrong name. If I was going to vote, I would go with Jalynn because Jada and Jaden are so close to the same name.
