For the last couple days my 2 1/2 month daughter has been very fussy, drooling a lot, and trying to chew on anything that goes in her mouth. She also has a low grade fever (she has been running 99.3 when usually she is at 98.6 or so. not much at all, but still warmer than usual) I tried freezing a washcloth, and she went to town on it! To me this sounds like teething, but she is only 2 1/2 mos!!! I have never heard of a baby teething this young, but then again, who knows? has anyone ever had a baby start so young? or does anyone have an idea on what else it could be? (she doesn't seem sick, just grumpy so I haven't asked her pedi. yet...)

good to know this does happen! I will keep doing the washcloth and teething ring (I have a small one that fits in her mouth) until payday, then try tablets. thanks mommas!
I wouldn't rule out an ear infection. It seems really early to be teething. My girls drooled a lot when they were young and chewed on everything, but didn't get there teeth until much later.
My 2nd daughter had 2 teeth by the time she was 4 months old, but it started when she was 2 1/2 to 3 months old. Hyland's teething tablets are great and my DD loved chewing on her burprags!
My son had 2 teeth by 4 months.
My brother was born with 2 teeth! (so he was already teething in the womb!)
it sounds like teething.... its very early but it is what it is you know?... i've heard of newborns being born with teeth coming in.... crazy! i know! but thats what i've heard.

One of my daughters started teething at 3 months. My pediatrician said 3 months is about the earliest she had seen. It could be possible that your daughter is a little earlier. If she has a binkie you can keep it in the freezer...i don't know if she is too little though. When they were older i would have them chew frozen bagels.
Yup. Sounds like teething. My kiddos all teethed early (first tooth between 3 and 4 months). My MIL froze a clean wash cloth soaked in water for them to gum because they were too small for traditional teething rings.
All three of my children had teeth at 3 months! It is quite possible that she is teething. They tend to lose teeth earlier when baby teeth start to fall out too when they come in that early. None of my girls had front teeth in kindergarten!

Quite often the teeth can start moving and causing discomfort from around 2 months old , but no teeth come through until around 6 months old. She won't have this discomfort non stop for the next 4 months , but you will probably notice these same symptoms on & off until 1 or 2 teeth decide to make an appearance. She is almost at the age where a little teething gel will help her.
My 6mo old started teething at about 6 weeks. Actually earlier I guess cause that's when I noticed the little tooth buds under his gums when he decided to chew on my finger. We did some research, also thinking it was way too early, but from what hubby found (he has great google-foo; I never can find what I want!), some babies are even born with teeth. It's perfectly normal.
Unfortunately for my little one, his keep coming up & down again like my mom says my bros both did. I think they may finally be coming out this month since they are bothering him more than usual.
My husband got his first tooth at 3m. Many babies start teething symptoms months before the first tooth comes through. My son started symptoms around 3m, but didn't get his first tooth till about 8m.

I think that's what's going on here. My oldest started teething at about 3 months, my 2nd was 4 months, and my 3rd is just now getting his 2nd tooth (he's 6months old) Just goes to show you how different kids can be from each other! lol
If you are looking for something to sooth her, Hyland's makes some homeopathic teething tablets and they work great! I love them and so does my little one! Wish I would've had them for my two older boys. lol Good luck to you! :)
It sounds like that is what is happening, this is not uncommon my niece had two when she was born, just keep giving something for your baby to chew on and she will be happy and so will you.
Our neighbor's daughter had two teeth by 3 months of age. My cousin was born with 2!! It's definitely possible! I have heard that the younger babies are when they get them, the more likely they are to have problems with their baby teeth. So, just be sure you wipe them down with a wet cloth twice a day.
My daughter started teething at 2.5 months also. Within a week, the teeth were in! Its not too early at all :) and yes...some babies are born with teeth, so no time is really too early for teething!
