Is a 6 Year Old Too Old for a Park Party? Need a Cool Park in Carrollton/Farmers

Hi moms, My son is going to turn 6 in April. It seems like we go to a Pump it up, bonkers type party 2 times a month, which is fun ...but I like the park party I had for my son 2 years ago. It was easy..order pizza and play. Last year we had it at the house with a bounce house. I just think it is alot of money to spend for Pump it up places. Are parks still "cool" for kids? What could I do to change up a park party and make it different? Any places you have been in Carrollton/Farmers Branch area of town? I want to make it fun, but I like easy and cost controlled!

What can I do next?

We host birthday parties out at Meadowmere Park on Lake Grapevine - www.AdventureDayCamps.com - at the same location we hold our Spring Break and Summer Camps. We can include archery, target shooting (BB guns, a scavenger hunt, obsticle course, water balloons, and more. Feel free to call me if you have questions - ###-###-####.

I dont think they are too old, as long as the park is great! I am not familiar with the area you are looking for, so I cant help there. I agree that if you want something else to make it special, a themed party would be fun. Maybe a scavenger hunt type thing..or like the previous poster said, a pirate theme. I know a lot of people are into "geo cashing" (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and you could set them up for a hunt similar to that. I am with you on not spending all of that money on a party! Some of the best parties we have done required more work and creativity on my part..but much less money. Have a great time..I will bet most kids will enjoy your party more than the pricier ones anyway!! ~A.~

Sandy Lake Park is the perfect place! It is supposed to open in March. We plan on having our little boy's birthday out there around that age.

If you have a park party consider making it a PIRATE themed party. I did this for my son when he was in 2nd grade and it was one of his best parties EVER! We made a treasure map where kids had to go to different locations in the park area. We nailed/stapled signs to trees with different locations on the map. At each location the kids played a game and won a small prize to put into their goody bag. At the last location on the map they were to look for the "treasure" which was a box of goodies (candy) that they could all put into their loot bags. For even more fun, get a pirate from Funny Business to come out and perform a Pirate magic show and make balloon swords for the kids. www.dfwfunnybusiness.com Aaron is a great pirate and so is Brett.

I have an 8 year old and she has been to 2 great park parties in the past year. One was a pink pirate party with a treasure hunt. The other had a parade theme. Everyone brought their bikes or scooters. The first part of the party the kids decorated them. Then they had a parade. Two older kids walked in front with a banner that said "Lula's Birthday Parade". The parents had noise makers and confitti and cheered them on. Actually, everyone in the park cheered for them.

Park parties are still cool at this age. I am a BIG fan of park parties and live in this area too. We have had two in the past. I highly recommend Clifford E. Hall park off of Jackson Rd. and Kiddie Koral off of Kelly and Heads Ln. Kiddie Koral has an awesome covered area with tables but, you have to rent it. I don't remember how much per hour but, very affordable. Good Luck!
