I am looking for words of encouragement as I don't have alot of people to talk to about this. I have finished my 2nd round of folistim (slightly hyperstimulated) with 3 eggs that released. Felt kind of yucky for a couple days but have heard if you are pregnant you will feel really bad OHSS symptoms. I don't feel horrible almost feeling better. Does this mean I'm not pregnant? Does anyone have experience on folistim. I just need words of encouragement as I am feeling pretty down. I go in for a blood pregnancy test next monday. I just don't know how much more of this I can take.

What can I do next?

D.,

I used Follistim when I went through IVF and did get OHSS. Before the preganancy test I was starting to feel better and less bloated from the drugs, but then all the sudden I started getting shortness of breath and gaining weight when the OHSS kicked in. I ended up with one beautiful baby boy. It's a rollercoaster, but don't give up hope. Everyone feels the effects differently. Good luck to you!

Although I didn't use the fertility drug you did, I did 3 rounds of IVF with injectable meds, and 2 of the 3 times worked! I have a 6 yo girl, and 4 yo triplets (GBB). I conceived my first at 29, and beleive me, I know the worries, stress, heartache of it all. If you want to talk further, send me a message. My thoughts are with you. PS. I could never wait for the blood tests, and bought a home prenency test 3-5 days before my scheduled blood draw and always got an accurate reading from those.

I don't have experience...but do have PCOS. There is a great website www.pcosmommies.com , the women on there are so helpful and I am sure they will be able to answer your questions. Hope you hear great news on your blood test!!

Hi D. -

Just wanted to wish you luck. I've been dealing with fertility issues for practically six years now and understand what a roller coaster ride it can be. We have a 3 year old DD that was conceived through IUI. We have been working on #2...no success yet. Anyway...sending you positive pregnancy vibes and understand it will be a long week until you can take that pregnancy test!!

Hi D.. I went through seven years of infertility -- all the testing there was, the meds (injections and pills and evertything else), daily blood tests, ultrasounds. You can ask me anything you need to and talk to me about this as well. I know this is a life-consuming thing, but it was worth it for me since I now have two beautiful children that I had through in-vitro (ages 12 and 8). So let's talk so you can get through this.

I did 3 rounds of IVF (last one worked) & I was on follistim all 3 times. The time it worked I honestly felt like I always did. Felt like my period was coming, AGAIN. I was suppose to go in on a Monday for the blood work but for some reason, I decided that Friday before to do a home test. I quit doing those because I didn't wanted be disappointed twice but I thought what the heck, I only had one left. We were actually going to adopt if that one didn't work. Well, we were pregnant :) He'll be a year old in April.
Trust me, I know what you're going through. We had 8 IUI's & 3 IVF's in the 4yrs we tried.
I wish you the best of luck! Stay positive & hopeful & say your prayers. That is all you can do. It's in God's hands.
Please email me, I'd love to talk or answer any questions.

Take care & baby dust to you!

Hi D.,

Both of my daughters were conceived with the help of Follistim. I felt really bloated and tender around the time of ovulation, but then felt normal afterwards. Wiht my first the only symtpom I had were tender breasts right before my positive pg. test. With my second I felt totally normal and never would have guessed that I was pregnant. Good luck to you!

I am certainly not a Dr. so I can't give you advice there. I also had infertility issues getting PG with my first and had to undergo many things, including Follistim. I know this can be SUPER rough - I was pretty emotional and certainly had my ups and downs. I just wanted to give you some encouragement (unlike TV shows, this is not an easy process) Good luck!

I never used folistim, but used something else. I had OHSS and wasn't pregnant, so I wouldn't know about that. I do know that when I was pregnant with my last (Clomid, IUI baby) I felt great so I was convinced I wasn't pregnant.

I never did injectibles so I don't have any great advice. However I am also a PCOSer. I conceived using Metformin, Bromocriptine, Baby Asprin and Femara (Letrozole) plus a trigger shot. We were on our last month of trying - going to adopt if it didn't work. I didn't feel pg at all...I took a home pregnancy test at 12 days past ovulation and it came up with a faint 2nd line. I bought a 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th...) test and it came up pregnant. So, you don't have to feel pregnant to BE pregnant.

Good luck and if you want to talk to another PCOSer...feel free to contact me!

I had OHSS after IVF, and it isn't subtle. You would know if you had it. It is most common to get OHSS if you are pregnant with multiples- but NOT having OHSS is a good thing- and does not mean that you aren't pregnant. The waiting is the worst part, isn't it? It is really too early to feel anything regarding the pregnancy, and all of the fertility meds mess you up anyway. Good luck! I hope it all works for you.
